    I just want to see something other than orange, like green or blue.

  2. other colours of LEDs are easy to find at any electronics shop. Replacing the one in your DC should be a a simple matter - just make sure you get one that's the same general size and shape, and runs on 3v or thereabouts.

    ...though, don't go to a mall store.
    They have NOTHING.
    ...unless you want a cell phone.

    Don't shop at Radio Shack, BTW - they're big ripoffs when it comes to parts.

  9. You could actually just wrap the terminals with wire and black-tape it together if you don't mind the slapfro factor. Thats how I did all my shit when I was little and wasn't allowed to use an iron And 7F, you can just wander down any alley in Akiba and you can prolly find some shrunken old man with a tin of LEDs!

    On a side note we just got in some sample *5 WATT* LEDs at work. They come with their own heatsinks

    Well, a more typical price for LEDs is about 15 cents each. That 500% markup won't kill you for such a cheap item, but it can get crazy if you want to buy more expensive stuff.

    But yes, I'll admit that Radio Shack is convenient. My roll of solder right now is from there, actually (I ran out of the stuff on Sunday, and they were the only store open that sold it).

    As far as the wire-wrapping idea goes, there aren't actually any pins big enough to do that on the DC's control port PCB. In any case, it's not a very good idea, since it's likely to come loose (maybe causing a short), and electrical tape can leak black sticky ooze on the inside of your deck. Learning to solder isn't hard and it really is worth it.
