F U Nintendo! When I purchase a f'ing game, I expect to get the full f'ing game. I don't want to spend $70CDN for Mario Kart and $20CDN for a link up cable to get all the extras that should have been included in the $50 game I purchased.

Otherwise, nothing special at all. Except for Sonic Heroes, all the games will have been out already. Where is MGS:TTS, FF:CC, and Pikmin 2 demos?!?

  2. I already bitched about that in the Fire Emblem thread. I know it's an "extra" but it's still absurd to require the purchase of another system, game, and peripheral just to access the unlockable content for the damn game.

  3. Sniff.

    So hows Ninja Turtles? =D
    Play Guitar Hero //

  4. Heh, I will download the Fire Emblem rom with these unlocked instead of buying it then. Connectivity is daylight robbery, fortunately i'm no mug. Why support a game when you need a ton of extra crap to unlock things that are on the cart itself?

I don't see what the problem is. They're giving you quite a bit of stuff here. I just preordered 6 games recently, and here's the bonuses that I got with them:

    Jak II: Nothing.

    Ratchet & Clank 2: Nothing.

    Castlevania: Lament of Innocence: Nothing.

Tony Hawk's Underground: A T-shirt. Good looking shirt, actually.

Medal of Honor Rising Sun: Nothing.

    EyeToy: Nothing.

If I got a couple of free demos with those games, I'd be rejoicing. Game publishers aren't obligated to give anything at all with preorders...and they usually don't. But, I think you'll start to see more companies doing it, at least for the marquee titles. Nintendo kind of raised the bar on these types of promotions with the preorder deal for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and now Ubisoft is doing this for a few games (for example, XIII and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time).

The demo giveaway for Mario Kart: Double Dash might be a bit low-key compared to getting full versions of classic games, and maybe that's what you're complaining about...but it still seems like a pretty good deal. You're not forced to utilize the Fire Emblem material; there seem to be a healthy number of other playable demos. These are the types of discs that PlayStation 2 or X-Box owners frequently pay $5-$10 for on their own, that you're getting for free.

If you don't want the disc, tell the salesperson to give it to another GameCube customer. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

  6. His point is that he wants the Fire Emblem content included in the game instead of on a disc for a completely different game (that he probably won't buy) on a completely different system.

  7. I'm sure Nintendo figures if you own a GBA you own a Gamecube.

  8. Are they handing these out now? I think Best Buy was advertising they would be available Tuesday.

    Ah, OK. I see.

Still, is that such a bad thing? I'd only consider it bad if the content was somehow required to complete the game. Otherwise, it's just what it is--bonus material. If you happen to own the disc, then you can enjoy it...otherwise, you just play the ordinary game like everyone else. It doesn't seem any worse than the PS2/X-Box demo discs that have added content "downloads" for existing games.

  10. It's not like this is anything new. It's a shady thing, but Nintendo wants to sell more of everything. Can't blame them, although I don't think it'll work.
