Thread: The Paranormal/haunting thread.

    Funny this is mentioned. There was an abondoned mental/geriatics hospital right next to my old apartment. It had a Catholic church built into the front of it. Me and a few friends busted into it several times. It had tunnels for the electrical and pipeing stuff, which connected a sub-basement shop on one end and a machinery room on the other.

    The X-ray machine was still there. It had been abandoned officially since 1988 (judgeing by a few scraps of paper we found in the remaning front office) and was founded in 1918 but St. (something-or-another) Church... we stole to corner stone which had all that information about when it was built and by whom. Derelects and Malcontents were known to live in it. We never encountered any (we came heavily armed too) but there was plenty of evidence around that would suggest a person or persons were recently there.

    No haunting though.

    In the spirit of keeping things creepy, I will recount everything we found that might be kinda scarry.

    One the fifth (of 12, no includeing basement and sub-basement) floor there was a fire hose laying on the floor leading into a room. This room's door was open, where as all others were closed. Inside the room, in the middle of the floor is a chair faceing the door entrance - it's back was to the window. The room was wide but not deep, and the walls around it were covered in cabinets and drawers. Every Cabinet door and Drawer was open. It seemed a very creepy thing at the time.

    I mentioned that this was a Catholic sponsored hospital and that it had a church connected to it. The church itself was unlike others I have seen before (I was born Catholic and attended a few Catholic churches btw). It was round, and had a dome, the pulpit was in the center and there were no pews on the ground. There was a balcony that ringed the central area, there were no pews there either, nor evidence of pews. There was a smallish back area, room for nuns from what we gathered (there were reclics still left). The stained glass was still in tact and a very large ceiling fixture hung over the central area very... ominously. Areas where statues or figures might have been mounted were empty. The overall atmosphere of the place (besides being very very musty and dusty) was generally creepy. My very first impression on it was that it would make a great Doom or Quake map.

    There was also a very large prayer room with a tile mosaic depicting a series of religious scenes. While the way the room was shaped and the look of the mosaic as well as knowing that someone else might also be in the building with us was all unsetteling we took a little break in there and smoked some cigerettes. I look at the building now, not as creepy but certianly dangerous. Why?

    After the 3rd or 4th time we went in to the place. The HPD conducted a raid there and apperantly found some very shifty sorts hideing out there and had been for some time. Amazingly, we never once ran into another soul inside that building which I suppose is good for us. We came with crowbars and maglights which are not only usefull but good potential weapons but realistically, we knew we never wanted to be forced into useing them.

  3. I checked that site YAWA posted, they have some funny locations in my state. 2 or 3 of em were concert venues I goto. I heard rumors about the masquerade here, and it seems like it would be haunted cause its an old run down mill of some sort.

    I also got a kick out of the stories about stone mountain park and Six flags.

    But I did find the one about them bridges I posted about. Turns out its like right down from where I work, at berry college. I'm gonna go check it out this weekend.

  4. Cedar Rapids - Rawsons Flatland - This a supposed to be haunted by a two to three year old girl, named Josephine, wearing a white t-shirt and has short hair about to her cheeks. If you see her you will remember quite a bit about her, then by the time you turn to take a second look she will be gone.
    That is land owned by some of my family and I've never heard a thing about this... that page is BS.

    I'm scared

    My aunt's old place was haunted... this one time, we couldn't get into her bedroom. It took like 3 of us to open the door, because someone had moved her dresser in front of the door. There was no one inside, and there are no windows in her bedroom.

    We were all like, "WTF, seriously."

At the college I used to go to (Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH) there was supposed to be this one building that hadn't been renovated, where if you go to at night and you stare up into the topmost window, you'll see a light. And supposedly, after you see that light, you black out and wake up the next day by the lake that's by our school. I never had the guts to do it...I'm the type of person that I wouldn't do the Ouija board thing, the say 'Bloody Mary,' in the mirror three times thing, anything like that, not even for fun. I mean, if it WAS true, there's no escaping that sh*t. Another one was in Granite Hall, where sometimes at night on the second floor, in a certain room, you'll hear marbles rolling around above you. A student had killed themselves in room above that one and kicked over a jar of marbles or something. I never heard it... Something that DID happen while I was up at school was (on different occasions and at different times of day) my roommate and I would be in our dorm room doing papers, reading or whatever, and there would be a loud coughing noise (like an animal coughing) under my bed, or under her bed, or by one of our closets. We used to get a little freaked out by that, I looked a couple times...but there was nothing there.

    I have had two weird UFO kinda sightings, both at the same spot with different friends. The next city close to my town is like 20+ minutes away. Me and a friend was going down there to go eat or something. Down this one mountain hill area we were going down, all of a sudden this air craft flew like right above in front of us, just barely above the trees levels. It scared the piss outta us and the other few cars driving the same way. We were all swerving and stopping cause we thought the thing was gonna crash. I couldn't really make out the shape of it, just remember the blinking red lights and it being black. It was moving really slow too and way too close to the tree's for safety. The same thing has happened twice but with different friends with me.

    I've been to an abandoned mental hospital, Bartonville Mental Asylum near Peoria, IL.
    it's been abandoned for about thirty years now, and the place scares the holy bejesus out of me. My girlfriend and I used to love to go there to snoop around and see if we could find anything.... ended up discovering an undocumented cemetery. There were a few murders apparently, and also they used to use electro-shock. Plenty of people try going into the place, though it's boarded up. Freaky stuff.
