i played a 5 level demo today, and well...the game is definitely lacking something. game isn't really intense either. well see how it turns out, but based on what i've played, i'd say it's the least best in the series.

Spent a good amount of time playing the full game today. I really like it, but the single player mode is boring as all shit after playing the co-operative mode, which kicks major amounts of ass. You can do a lot of stuff you can't do on the one player mode:
* Double Dash, if both players rocket start at the same time = ludicrous speed.
* Slide Attack (when the rear player presses L and R), really fun to use. And it's also good for bumping your driver into item boxes when they are giong to miss them.
* Boosting quick and without snaking, when you boost in co-operative play. The driver does the sliding (hold R) and the rear player does the "twiggling of the control stick" back and forth. Which means you can boost really quickly, and the cart won't snake when doing so.
Having to communicate between drivers makes the game far more enjoyable. It's not really what you are doing that's important, it's the co-ordination which makes it fun. Yelling at each other frantically.
"Use the Mushroom fuckface!!!"
"Slide goddamit, slide!!"
"Throw me your banana!"
Some classic gaming moment there
Most of the tracks are pretty boring. They don't have as much novelty value as the tracks in 64. The Walugi arena is the only one I can really remember, with it's fire hoops and Pirahna Plants.
I also wish Nintendo would get those frigging Pianta's and Delfino Island and shove them up their arse. I wanted a traditional mario kart game with a new twist, not Super Mario Sunshine Kart. And finally, I only really like the Fireball karts, all the rest are as ugly as fuck.
8/10

You mean... the worst in the series.Originally Posted by Lucas Barton

every mode (save time-trial) can be played co-operatively, since you choose that option before choosing the game mode.Originally Posted by Green

I love the Donkey Kong track... much fun is to be had.

but can you go to plaid?* Double Dash, if both players rocket start at the same time = ludicrous speed.
So. Is there any real reason to buy this game?
forgot about that because i skip it every time. :pOriginally Posted by AstroBlue
There is an option to select the frequency of the more "explosive" items, though i haven't tried it yet. Plus you can always keep a green shell with the pilot to fend off many incoming threats, since you can see some of them coming (or shoot the Bananas on the road with it). But I admit I like it the way it is, since I am not a big fan of racing games, so the "item randomness" makes the game fun enough for me to enjoy it.Originally Posted by AstroBlue
One of my favorite too.Originally Posted by AstroBlue
By the way, does anyone know if you can take the second shortcut in Dino Dino Fever (the one in the cave) without a Mushroom ?
I think the bottom line is that MD:DD does really nothing new, but it does it well (expect for the music which is really bad). You won't find anything groundbreaking, but the overall game is really solid.Originally Posted by Icepick
