Thread: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

  1. Not being able to restart a race has cost me the gold on so many damn occasions. Today, I fell off rainbow road by accident, near the end, and BAM, second place.

Plus, on 150 CC, the same damn team gets second 90% of the time. So you have to race a perfect race, because you know that damn team will get 1st if you don't. I've had the second place team drop to 8th before, literally 10 seconds behind everyone else (they got stuck in the desert trap in the desert course), and then BAM!

All of a sudden, they fly up from 8th place and miraculously make second again, in about 5 seconds, it's like all the other carts just stood still. And for the record it was Wario and Peach, it's impossible how they made second that soon.

Mario Kart has always had pre-determined rivals that dog you throughout. Kinda sucks when compared to something like F-Zero GX, where most racers have an equal shot at victory.

So it's pretty much one screw up at the very last race, you get 2nd place. No restarting a race is very, very wrong. Give me 3 lives for 150cc or something, damnit. Only really happened once, since the game is so easy, but still. Bitch bitch bitch.

It's happened to me in the 150CC flower, star, and special courses.

And I know about the predetermined rivals, but it seems 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th always go to the same person, except in rare circumstances. It's annoying, espically in Rainbow Road, since i've got the smaller cart, they bump me right off the track at the very beginning... there goes my 1st place overall.

I hope you didn't think the "bitch, bitch, bitch" was aimed at you... I just ran out of things to say and added that since it's all I've been doing about the game anyway

lol, I knew that, don't worry.

The more I play the angrier I get, but at least Toad and Toadette are cool. The karts look more like race cars now, a good majority of them.

  6. If you didn't have a rival it would be boring, and people would complain about the lack of difficulty.

One of the things that bothered me in past MK games was how you couldn't put your initials with your time trial records. It seemed like an obvious omission. I'm glad they fixed that problem.

  7. yea, I'm glad they incorporated that in the game as well. MKDD has been on reserve at EB since it's release and I just got it :d. Sorry but the lazyness got to me, the game's good, but it's pretty damn easy. Don't matter though since i was looking forward to a party game with the friends anyways.

  8. Is everyone forgetting that Mario Kart 64 had no unlockables, a far worse driving engine, no co-op, no tracks that came even close to DK Mountain, and lousy battle maps not including Block Fort? I just unlocked Luigi's Mansion and it's a fantastic battle map BTW. Not as good as Block Fort, but better than any other MK64 map by leaps and bounds.

But having a rival that always places second, and not being able to restart a race, means that if you slip up on the last track by accident, you get to play the whole circuit again. I wouldn't mind if they just let me restart a race.

I agree...it can be irritating. I always lose and have to start over in that last race. Never fails.
