Can't say I've had that... wait, is that some kind of misconception of what deep dish is about? There's been a lot of comments to that effect, and I've never heard of or eaten anything like that... but ketchup sounds hideous on pizza.

Not on my part. I was just being sarcastic about how disgusting Chicago pizza is.

It's sorta like at the end of the movie My Blue Heaven when Steve Martin's character (who is a mobster stuck in middle America because he is in the witness relocation programme) complains that when he orders Italian food he gets served egg noodles with ketchup. It's just sarcasm.



Oh, and I like ketchup on the right things. Chips/fries, hamburgers, etc.

As a kid I used to eat a lot of it. I like it on potato chips now...

In Canada ketchup flavoured potato chips are a national pasttime. I only tried one and found it pretty nasty. Then again, I only like salt & vinegar or plain ones...

Gotcha. Considering the nature of the thread, though, I immediately thought there was a place out there that actually did this. Come to think of it, there probably is a market for it somewhere. Hell, some people like ranch dressing on pizza. Some people also eat deep fried candy bars and sticks of pork fat. Go figure.

Hmm... I can't imagine it being good. Not being able to control the application of flavor yourself, not having the wetness to offset the crunchy... I think I'll pass. Another thing to avoid are dill pickle flavored chips. Disgusting. Disgusting smell, and once I actually got one past my nose, I wasn't shocked to find the flavor equally revolting. This is from a guy who has seen balut and still wants to try it someday.

i can't believe all the hating going on about Chicago pizza. It's the best. I love a good hearty deep dish.

Papa Johns is disgusting. I always feel like i've eaten a stick of butter afterwords.

My favorite chain is East of Chicago Pizzaria, it's a really small chain though.
