Anyone wanna talk seriously about the NG? I'll make an official thread if so.
Based on Daikatana? I don't think every game he's behind would have the same circumstances. I belive people can learn from thier mistakes, not to mention he's had his hand in some very very very ground breaking games so I would think twice about knocking him a whole hell of a lot. Daikatana jokes are all well and good, but that wasn't all of his career. I contend that without Romero, id software lost quite abit of thier ability to make a creative or imaginitive game. Doom 3 looks good, but have you seen some of the monsters? Id might well be relegated to engine technology (which they're great at, perhaps unparalled) in the future as if that wasn't the lion-share of everything they work for. Romero was a visionary and I don't think the worst game ever made could take that away from him.Originally Posted by conrooks
Remember that those numbers only include what was sold as a stand alone unit at retailers, not what it sold in all. I bet that many people traded up from their cells to the N-Gage the first day. Once those numbers are in you'll all be sorry that you kept ragging on the NG. Not E indeed!

Anyway regardless if you are, yeah, I'd be willing to discuss the N-Gage seriously. I joke about the N-Gage for shits and giggles, but I haven't really had any hands on experience with it. I hope to check it out this week.
My main frustration with the N-Gage is that I haven't really read a review on the N-Gage I was satisfied with, most seem to be based on first appearences. From my experiences with "gadgets" like Mobile Phones, it takes a good two months or so to be able to really understand its pros and cons.
And, that sig is way too big...
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.
Romero didnt design any of the monsters in the old games. The artists for DOOM, I believe, were Adrian Carmack and Kevin Cloud, and later on Paul Steed did a few things. He is a level/game designer/programmer.Originally Posted by ShineAqua
Romero did design the maps for Doom, which were utterly brilliant, but he didnt even do all of them; only the first episode (to be fair, that is the one that was distributed through shareware, but its only about 25% of the damn game). Sandy Petersen did the rest. He only did like four or five for Doom II. I do think he designed most of the levels for Quake single-player, but Quake single-player was beyond awful.
I think you get my gist: Romero's talent was vastly overrated and he was simply buffered by very, very talented people at id who happened to not be the type of media whores that Romero is. Romero happily let people give him the credit for Doom which in reality the game was mostly thanks to Carmack, Petersen, and... Carmack.
Romero was only able to keep up that perception until Daikatana, then the curtain was lifted and he was shown to be a fraud. The game fell apart because Romero couldn't lead a team or design a big-budget game to save his ass. The dude sucks, fin.
I never know what to believe. Some retailers insist Gamecube is selling better then the PS2 because of the price cuts, and the Xbox is fledging, but then a report like this comes out.
I wish I had some source to look at myself...

This is just retarded... this is far from good trolling.

Meh, your right I've been off the last few posts. Sorry I haven't been visiting GameFAQs as often as I should for good fanboyism material, blame the loss of quality of the last 2 or so posts on my laziness. Gimmick over, N-Gage sucks.
I respect that.
