yes. I never understood how that came to be as miss used as it has.

Not really a word, but can we get rid of "It's not a cartoon, it's anime"? Anime fans need to admit they like cartoons and come to terms with that.

  2. Expanding on my dislike of "pre-owned"....

We need to get rid of the other 90,000 words that use "pre" as well, especially because most of the time it doesn't even change the meaning.

    pre-approved
    pre-register
    pre-discounted
    pre-priced

Ugh! WTF is the difference between "pre-approved" and "approved"? One way or another, you're approved! Quit putting shit on words to make them sound fancier than they are.

I do have a problem with the people who absolutely refuse to call Japanese anime a "cartoon," or Japanese manga a "comic," because that's exactly what they are and what those words mean.

At the same time, I don't have a problem with the people who use those words, because it helps to distinguish what you're talking about. For example, I say "I like manga" instead of "I like comics," because saying the later may make people think I like American stuff like X-men, Superman, or whatever.

  6. "digital quality"

That one has to die as well. Doesn't mean a damn thing, and satalite TV services and portable music players n' stuff like that throw it around all the time.

So that gizmo has 100% digital quality you say? Doesn't mean much if the bitrate is 112 kbps.

People who answer their own questions as a way of making a statement.

"Do I think [opinion] is bad? Yes. But do I think [opinion] is wrong? No."

Just fucking say it as one complete sentence.

Yeahm the words anime and manga are fine... I just don't like anime fans who act as if anime is somehow "above" being referred to as a mere "cartoon". It's hypocritical and stupid, and I see it all the time. Almost any time I see someone refer to a japanese cartoon as a cartoon in the presence of an anime otaku I hear them chime in and "correct" them.

There's nothing wrong with liking cartoons. Just admit it, accept it, and move on.
