Thread: Selling Your Whole Collection

  1. Most people I know who sold huge collections ended up rebuying a lot of it much later...and regretting the fact that they ever parted with the stuff in the first place.

I agree here. I could never part from my collection no matter what. But if you're desperate, just part with the games you don't care much or that you only have for bragging rights and stick to what you really like.

  3. You'll definatly make the most money by selling thing seperatly, and the bundling crap games with a system is a good idea. I only like having 2 or 3 auctions going at once, the amount of email i get from that is just enough to keep straight with. Makes things less confusing, especially if you're selling a lot.

  4. Like everyone said, you'll get more selling separately. Not to mention, if you sell separately, you're able to expand your search when you list it on eBay. If you sell as bundle, and you have a couple of good games, you wont be able to put those titles and whatever else into a 16 character max title for the auction.

Emails arent that bad for me. If you list everything to the best of your ability like I do in my auctions (link below to my eBay)..than you shouldnt have a problem with emails. The only time I get emails is either about payments or if they want to buy it outside of ebay right away.

  5. yeah, i really don't want to sell it. i know i'll regret it. crap, i know i'll regret it as im selling it all, but i really am becoming quite miserable without this new bike.

we'll see, i still have about 2 months to find a job.

  6. Deifnitely use Buy-it-Now. It costs $.05 for each auction. Just search through completed auctions to see what your stuff is going for, then make your buy-it-now price a bit (or a lot) above what you find. You'd be surprised how much people will pay for stuff through buy-it-now. I've sold a ton of DVDs this way and gotten way over what I normally would.

have good shit to sell. you wont get much if the games arent worth it, plain and simple.

  8. I've been out of a job since June, and I've found a way to make ends meet - making headway on the pile of shame, shopping at flea markets and pawn shops every once in awhile just to appease the cravings for new games, and just watching my money in general. I've had more disposable income at the end of the month with no job than I did when I was working full time just by not spending what I've got.

If the only reason you're selling it is to get a new bike, that doesn't make much sense to me. You still won't have a job, and selling the collection to buy the bike doesn't get you ahead any. If anything you'll lose some money in the transaction. If you were selling the collection to avoid having the bank foreclose on a mortgage or something, well then sell it, but to buy a new bike doesn't make much sense. The real problem is finding the job, so if you focussed all the energy it would take to sell the collection (and I imagine it would be a substantial expenditure of energy), and put it into getting a job, you would have your problem solved. If you need a job, you'll find one, if you go looking for the perfect job you might luck out but you'll probably be waiting for awhile, or at least that has been my experience over the summer.

  9. Also, do what I do. When I use 'Buy It Now', I usually say this to catch more bidders..

"If 'Buy It Now' is used or if auction goes over $.00, shipping is FREE within the US"

If you do end up selling it (but really think about what you're doing. A lot people sell, only to buy parts back), eBay is your best choice.

Use lots of pics and use "Buy it now" to recieve payment a lot faster.
