Thread: The Matrix Revolutions (unmarked SPOILERS after post #160)

  1. Yeah...true, not true bullet time, but god damn, what they did was far more amazing then bullet time.

Neo should have died in the first and second movie, but did not. Do you really truly believe that he is dead entirely? Did you not see that huge aura when the machine carried his body away?! And yeah, his body is definetly dead and decomposing, but his "soul" or whatever had been inegrated into the source. They could easily turn this into a program so that Neo could exist in the matrix still...not sure why, maybe to honor him, or just that they have a purpose for him.

As for why he could see the machines when blind and all that junk, that is because in reloaded when he saw the architect he said that by entering there he had altered his consciousness. Basically gave him super powers.

Technically yes, but they used a computer to simulate it a couple times during the Smith fight in Reloaded. For all intents and purposes it's the same even if it isn't actually bullet time.
When I say bullet time, I mean all the slowly done scenes, which was done in at least 3 scenes if I recall correctly.

There is still a debate going on whether he survived or lived. But I think he's dead too, but it never showed what happened after he went off.

  3. So to you slow motion = bullet time?!!?
Cause action movies have been doing it long long before the matrix.

But here he was finally ready to die and did so performing a sacrifice to save everyone. It was his choice. (And when should he have died in Reloaded?)

Yeah, it linked him to the Source.

Yeah, good point about him being ready to die. And he should have died in reloaded when he killed the sents. Oracle said that he was not ready to use his power yet. But also that it wasnt his time so body and mind where split up...yada yada, you have a good point that he was not ready to die before but now is.

I agree, he should be dead, entirely, so it is very stupid that the oracle said maybe. I mean, why else would she say that unless there is actually the chance?! Come on...

Debatable, or course. The tentacle gently lowered him to the ground, rather than shaking him off like a sticky booger. We didn't see an autopsy or anything. Even if his body died, the machines could resuscitate him, or keep a copy of his mind. Personally, I'd prefer he was dead and stayed that way.

Bullet time, in the terms of its copyright, is circular slow-motion done with multiple cameras. Circular freeze-motion is not bullet time, hence why Gap ads were allowed to get away with ripping off the idea. Slow-motion by itself, however, is definately not bullet time. What Neo does at the top of the building in Matrix is bullet time and the pole sweep in Reloaded is simulated bullet time.

Personally I don't think it's debatable at all because of focus on making choices, controlling your own life, and being ready. A lot of "actual" details in the latter two movies were superflous, the focus of the movies were on the idea. You could argue that he's still alive from a story perspective but that also goes against the entire point behind the story. I've got a feeling a lot of people won't make that distinction.

  8. Well then I'm mistaken. But I mean slow motion overall, and not a lot of movies do it.

  9. I hated all of it except for maybe 5 or so minutes of action. I liked Reloaded better, hell, I liked the Star Wars prequels better than this movie. Even after the deluge of negative reviews I had hoped I'd care for the movie, but I ended up just making fun of it with my friends pretty much the whole time. I'm seeing it again tommorow because I allready got the tickets, but I'm not looking forward to it.
