Actually blame it on the market that now slashes prices on games within a month or two of release now. People, like me, are used to seeing small niche games like this get their prices slashed super fast so companies can use their spot on the wall to put up an extra copy of Halo 2 or MGS 3.

I've got enough stuff to play for a month or two until La Pucelle hits 30 bucks, then I'll snatch it up. This game can't really even hope to stand a chance against all the other big names, so pricing at 50 is just knocking on death's door, saleswise.

Prices are starting to drop now faster than ever... it was great getting Champions of Norrath for only 32 bucks in less than a month after it had been out.

(2nd button bottom left brings you to characters --- at least you get good art)

    Cool fact about the game:
I remember that alomone had started to translate this game a while back and that he managed to publish a patch for the japanese version of La Pucelle. I was keeping an eye on his progression, because I planned to get the jap version as soon as he finished translating it. Anyway..no need for that now

    You should certainly check

It has 52 screenshots of alamone's translated La Pucelle.

From what I've been seeing, people are slowly realizing that another fine tactical rpg is coming for PS2. Since there's plenty more games like La Pucelle and Disgaea that were only released in Japan, I wonder if other "older" rpgs will make their way here.

I'm thinking: Namco's tactical rpgs "Venus and Braves", "Seven: Molmorth no Kiheitai", "Tales of Destiny 2".

According to gamefaqs Venus and Braves and Seven both seem to have been considered by Namco as potential US releases...(There is an entry for "Seven: Mallmorse's Cavalry Unit ")

Compared to Mastiff's other releases, La Pucelle should certainly do great and motivate them to keep it coming.

For the sake of completness I'll do some Cut'n'Paste so people reading this thread can get all the info about the game:

    FEATURES:
    • Dark Portals and Purification: Brand new to the RPG world, use your powers to purify defiled ground and enemies. If pulled off right the effect is like having a super-giant combo.
    • damage multiple enemies at once
    • stop new enemies from appearing
    • strengthen items in real time
    • Fast leveling system: Items, characters and skills can increase every round of battle for well earned instant gratification.
    • Carry up to 149 items and use them to learn special magic.
    • Turn enemies to allies. Bring up to 8 units into battle.
    • Seize the high ground! Battlefield terrain will vary in height: attacking down is way better than being attacked from above.
    • Attack in formation with your allies -- Wave Attack and Simultaneous Attack
    • Great balance of difficulty with early stages functioning as a tutorial, characters with real personality, beautiful hand drawn backgrounds
    • Over 100 hours of gameplay with multiple endings
    • Winner of a coveted Gold Award from Famitsu, Japan's leading game magazine

I agree. Hopefully I'll be grabbing this within the first couple of weeks.

Will buy on first day of course -- and Disgaea a disappointment? Best game of 2003 and best SRPG I've played in years. Logged more hours on this than any other game in years. My #1 most aniticipated title for 2004 (#2 being Growlanser).

  5. I'll be there on day one as well.

    Woo.

  6. Nippon Ichi's site can cover the bandwidth of movie downloads better than ayashii. Anyone interested should hit their site instead.

I doubt the La Pucelle guide will be as tough to find as Disgaea's. Brady Games is the publisher this time, whereas the Disgaea guide was made by newcomer Double Jump.

Edit: The boxart (left) is okay, but Mastiff should tone down the red so that Priere resembles the in-game character better (right).

  7. Which also means the La Pucelle guide will more than likely suck.

  8. Nice vid, maybe I will get this on day one.

    Speaking of the Disgaea guide...
Check this out! They fuggin' updated the information in the PDF one! I paid $14.99 for their shitty guide that contained little-to-no information, and they go and pull this.
    Unbelievable.

  10. Yeah, I've been seeing that Disgaea updated guide message every time I go to the Lupin board. It'd be neat if they allowed folks who bought the guide in a store to get access to the updated one for free.
