I think this is fantastic news. He's perfect for the role. I can't wait to see Tim Burtons take on it either.

  2. Sounds interesting, and Depp is a solid actor.

  3. Depp is fantastic. Yay.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  4. I would think that this is the worst idea in quite awhile, but with Depp....wow, cant be more excited.

  6. I heard about all this months ago...still, good news. Burton's uneven as a director (sometimes he totally sucks, sometimes he's brilliant), but Depp is consistantly a great actor. It could go either way, but I'm looking forward to this remake. Supposedly they're going to make it more true to the book it was based in than the original movie. Still, I can't see how it can beat the original- it was an amazing movie and Gene Wilder owns the part of Willy Wonka. But if anyone can come close, it's Depp.

  8. We shall see. As everyone says, Depp is a great actor, and Burton is a great style/visual/creative director.

  9. Chalk this up on the list of movies that really don't need to be remade.
