A little late in me getting back to this I know but let's have some fun.
I thought that's what we were talking about. Playing games. And if looking at plastic boxes with fancy inserts is better than just playing the game itself,
I wholeheartly agree but those people that do buy stuff to collect also make up a majority of people who like to buy home versions to play as well.
how about Playmore or whomever making a new piece of proprietary cartridge based arcade hardware (you know, like at least semimodern) and then releasing a home system based on the exact same architecture and then whip up a bunch of the exact same thing that you could purchase for cheap in the arcade format,
only with the addition of a plastic box, halfass "manual" and a slickly printed paper insert and continue to keep their "devoted fans' in this battered girlfriend that just can't seem to break free from the mindgames and random beatings type relationship.
Well it's not like the idea doesn't have merit. You have to think about who we're talking about tho. A lot of people are still hooked on the Neo's dated hardware/graphics even now.
Even moreso knowing that the hardware is 13 years old there apparently is enough people out there still loving it enough to where Playmore is making a profit off home cart sales. They wouldn't be too retarded not to make a shitload of carts if they knew they were not going to sell em.
Also to those of you who do buy MVS carts I should add that buying the carts from the 2ndary aftermarket even tho you love Neo*Geo games does not show you supporting Playmore. I've gotten into this arguement before with people buying MVS and Home Carts after they were released years ago and some people still don't get that the only way you're going to be able to show any support is to buy the games new on release.
That's where the real support comes from. Hell I wouldn't be surprised that half of the high cost is due to HK Bootleggers dumping teh romz on the net so nobody will have to pay for em. That among other things more or less.
The cost of one Jaleco Pony Cabinet with a single slot MVS board is almost exactly the same as a fully modded AES system and it comes with a 29" RGB monitor and real arcade controls to boot. And oh yes, you can also use it to play all the rest of your favorite high quality jamma arcade PCBs. Show me an AES that'll do that and I'll be a convert for life
I got lucky ages ago with a 2nd AES system. Bought a home cart system with 13 carts for $300.00 flat out. of course you have to remember some people don't have the room to lug around a Supergun or even have an arcade cab in their home to play with.
The thing with KoF 2002 is that it neither looks nor plays better than KoF 98 and it looks a damn sight WORSE than MotW. And I'll freely admit to spouting preconcieved notions directly out my ass regarding SS5, I just don't particularly care for that series. Last Blade pisses all over the poor things, to say nothing of Last Blade 2.
Last Blade is a visual treat to me as well and seeing as now Last Blade 3 is due out soon I hope that it will carry on the tradition of play style i so enjoyed out of the 1st two games. I think Last Blade one was a tad better than two imho but that's more or less me feeling that the control issue is more percise.
Is there really a Rage of the Dragons sequel?
Pa
Yes and No. Storywise it's not but extra character wise it is.

Even tho the MVS version is probably cheaper I do like the fact Shawn was able to convice Playmore to put the fucking Meg counts back on the home versions.
