Did Asmik do a lot of stuff? I have fond memories of the handfull of Asmik games I owned.
Released for the NES in 1991, Asmik's Wurm went unnoticed by many gamers. It's not an excellent game but I think it has a certain appeal to it with its multi-genre gameplay and dark atmosphere. It's part horizontal shooter, part first-person shooting and part platform/adventure. Any fans here?
edit - Damn bitmap attachments turning into links. Oh well.

Never played this one, but I remember the name.
It's Time Gal!
Asmik has made tons of games from the 8-bit era to the current era although many of them were left in Japan and are in genres that don't appeal to me like wrestling and horse racing.
I would say the best NES game Asmik published was Conquest of the Crystal Palace. I think it was developed by Quest.
Cosmic Epsilon was neat Space Harrier-type game for the Famicom by Asmik. The pseudo-scaling in it is the most impressive 3d effect I have seen on the system.
And there was Boomer, the pink dinosaur mascot of Asmik. He appeared in Game Boy and Famicom games. Those who read gaming mags in the early '90s probably remember the million Boomer ads that were in there.
they're behind the ne'er do well Lethal Skies games as well right?
yep. that's a very interesting game with an incredibly shit label illustration. =)Originally Posted by NeoZeedeater
yep. there was contest to name him back then. it was advertised in all the mags or run through one of them; i can't remember which.Originally Posted by NeoZeedeater

well, as a publisher, in japan. not a developer. they aren't a developer. in fact, they're one of those media companies that got into games during the famicom days -- unlike, say, vap or meldac or pony canyon they stayed, however. they still publish DVDs and distribute movies theatrically in japan. they handled the ring, which is why they published that shitty ring game for DC that infogrames brought over here.Originally Posted by Kraftwerks

This was actually one of my favorite 3rd party games on the NES. The shmup levels were fun and simple, and the sidescrolling, almost Rolling Thunder-esque on-foot sequences were a blast.
It also managed to tell a pretty serious and dramatic story, and really managed to make you care about the heroine on a level deeper than hoping they don't get killed by waddling, poisonous, sentient mushrooms. Very good story for it's time, with a suprisingly good translation in the Age of Janglish the game was released in.
omg TNL epics!
