Depends on what you call a failure. It was JoAG's most successful game, so they were probably happy with it, but that ain't saying much. MLF2 had alot working against it in the marketing department, too.

My video capture card sucks so the actual game looks at least twice as good as these videos. The first one is stage 1-1 played on normal and in TATE mode. The second is stage 1-2 on extreme in vertical orientation. I had to cut part of the boss fight from the first to keep the size down, but his patterns are all pretty similar so you're not missing much. Both were hard to play via capture, especially TATE, so I'm a little better at this game than is actually depicted.

  3. With the dreamcast version out now, I expected this thread to get bumped, but I guess neither shooters nor the dc are as popular at TNL as they once were.

I'll bump it anyway because after taking a Ninja Gaiden break, I'm back to actively playing this... and still haven't beaten it because I suck. Gotten to the last stage though where I need to have wait on in order just to survive and when this artificial slowdown goes away, so do I.

Was using the girl with the reflection secondary shot for a while, but now I've switched to Fumiko the witch. Playing them is so different that it's almost like an entirely new game. I need to change my instincts all around, but I've been doing better with Fumiko for some reason even though she has a really odd normal shot and her secondary is very hard to use without getting bulleted.

Still need to unlock the EX Options and figure out what the heck 'IR Password' is, but overall having lots of fun with it. Surprised there isn't more interest. Guess everyone else got the GC version long ago.

  4. IR Password is used on the official website. It stands for "Internet Ranking" IIRC, it seems like the Dreamcast score area isn't up yet though: http://www.alfasystem.net/game/shiki2/Score.htm

  5. i'm still waiting for mine from ncsx...

should be here today, hopefully.. i'm pretty anxious to try it out.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  6. This is a fun shooter.

Can someone post a translation of what all the options mean?

  7. Not sure which options you mean since most of them are in English. Unless they changed it for the DC version, selecting arcade mode should give you the choice of normal and extreme and also normal and remixed sound track. After that you can chose easy or normal mode and choose to have the cut-scenes on or off.

  8. I really like this game, it's always nice hook up the old Dreamcast.
Shame I can't defeat the black borders on my pal console, I tried force booting with DC-X into dreamcast ntsc mode, but alas, no go...
Anyone know if any other region boot disc will bypass this problem? The screen is small enough at is is...
Nice colors, nice patterns, a good investment.
It's quite like Shikigami No Shiro Evolution on Xbox though.

  9. I'll have to look into buying this one.

If DC-X doesn't do it, you're probably out of luck. You could try XPloder, but I think it just does the same thing as DC-X. VGA should give you 60Hz though.
