I really need to purchase this game.
All 3 of the recent DC shooters - Border Down, Psyvariar 2, and now this.
That's like, $200.![]()
Can anyone comment on which of the three is worth a foray into first?
Thanks mikey, stupid me... Ofcourse I should have tried it on vga first. The things you forget :P
Will hook it up later![]()

I just unlocked the EX Options in Shiki 2 and it makes the game 500% better.
Want a really quick game? Crank the speed to 200%... and die very quickly. Getting bored with extreme mode? Try one of the three new variants. My favorite is definitely extreme-3 where the death bullets come off in a star pattern... and usually cause some nice slowdown if you have wait on, especially if you use the other option to slow down the bullets, which is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because the bullets are easy to dodge, a curse because they take twice as long to leave the screen, leaving you with even more bullets to avoid. You can also increase and decrease the size of the bullets and increase or decrease the range of the bullet scrape activation. These add a lot to the game's replay value.

Agreed, these are the last three DC games I need to pick up, along with Puyo Puyo Fever.Originally Posted by Baron

R.I.P Kao Megura (1979-2004)
How I'd rank them:
1. Border Down (if you like hori shooters more)
1. Shikigami No Shiro 2 (if you like verts more)
2. Psyvariar 2 (good game, but short and IMO harder to master than Ikaruga).

How did you unlock the EX options? Just by completing the game in normal mode? Does 'EX' stand for 'extreme mode' or 'extra mode? What else is hidden in this mode?Originally Posted by ammadeau

I haven't beaten the game yet. The final boss just kicks my ass. So I think it's either beat the game or it's a time-release thing. I've mentioned pretty much everything you get, but I don't have unlimited continues yet so there might be more time-release related options to show. Still, playing with the ones I have is really fun. Extreme-3 is the most fun shooter I have ever played, especially with the game speed slowing and speeding up all the time if you leave wait mode on.Originally Posted by dakidski
Oh, should mention that it appears the PS2 ver and the DC version have different extras. For instance, PS2 gets a boss mode while the DC gets a sound test. The EX options may be different in the DC ver.

i dont really like too many horizontal shooters, and border down didnt change that. psyvariar 2 was fun, but im liking shiki 2 a lot more. i think my main problem with psyvariar was how tiny some of the bullets were, otherwise i still had fun with it (i played on a tated 27" btw, i didnt bother playing it more than once on my horiz 27").Can anyone comment on which of the three is worth a foray into first?
as for shiki i didnt like it at first because the character i was using...just didnt like her weaponry. i tried some other chars out and all was good. hate level 3-1 though...then again it also has my favorite boss...
i havent unlocked ex options yet, and it seems like the credits are time released. i think it started with 3 or so, now its around 5.
yikes, i completely overlooked this game.
i'm thinking of buying it, but i'm not sure which version to get. 2 questions: does the ps2 version support prog-scan? does the dreamcast version support vga?
The DC one does support VGA.
