Oh Jesus, what a way to judge a game's qualityOriginally Posted by Roufuss

I haven't played the old amped but this blurb from ebgames has me intrigued:
I do like multiplayer...Multiple multiplayer modes: Via split-screen, LAN, or Xbox Live, Amped 2 offers a ton of multiplayer challenges, both individual and team-based. Go head-to-head with a buddy. Challenge as many as seven other people in a game of Horse, or play a game of 4-vs.-4 King of the Mountain, where each team tries to pull the sickest tricks on different rails and ramps on a run.
No, it just shows me that there are very very few people into this game, and I don't want to waste the time being let down, when I can go trade it in and get something I already know is good, like Rainbow Six 3.Originally Posted by Andy
And also, since ZERO people have talked about it before I made this post, I didn't have high hopes for it. I still don't, and I'm hoping one of the people here who have bought it will post impressions and how they like it.
I'm trying to see if it'll be better than SSX 3, since right now that's the top for me.

I'm getting it from MS retail as well.. Top Spin too. I really really liked the first game and crusaded for it here when the Xbox droped. At the very least it's addicting, frustrating yes, but addicting and insanely fun at times. Not as 'get on and go' as SSX but they're really diffrent games. I don't see why you can't have your cake and eat it too in this case. Both fill diffrent gaps and Amped is far and away the best 'freestyle' game I have played. Amped 2 should pick up where that left off.
Hopefully the interface won't be so clunky.

Well if you want an opinion IGN has a review up. My friend is picking this one up since I got SSX3 and will be getting 1080. I'll let you know what he thinks once he picks it up.

Sorry, but me and IGN don't really agree when it comes to their horrible review system.Originally Posted by dyomides

Well in that case send me your game and I'll let you know how it is.

Well, I put about two hours into it tonight. Not nearly long enough to offer any real judgement.
However, I can say that the game has improved/changed far more things than it's being credited with. The new "style" points are really tricky (at least for me) to get used to. I like the idea that doing something well is worth more points than doing a bunch of quick grabs.
What most reviewers seem to not mention is that you've got to balance pulling the right trigger with a slow nudge on the left stick in order to rack up style points. It takes a lot of getting used to and I think the effort is well rewarded with points.
I'm going to say right now that the use of the right analog stick for grabs feels very natural. By using the stick they free up the shoulder buttons for other uses. I suspect other "extreme sports" titles will encorporate this idea into thier next revision.
The game is much more forgiving as far as landings go. So it's less "sim" like now and more Tony Hawk. Though you do loose a lot of points for sloppy landings.
I'm not sure if this is different than the first, but you can see other snowboarders when you're in single player. It really makes the mountains feel much more alive and adds an element of randomness to the game. I've been clipped in the middle of a grind/flip before and lost points. Annoying, but realistic.
A few short notes:
- There are a lot more character customization options up front this time around, but it's not as in depth as Tony Hawk.
- You still start off career mode rather weak stats wise.
- No option to customize your board. I wish there was.
- The new "butter" or manual move is easy to use and works well in opening up the possible combo lines.
Well, I tried the 2 months free Xbox live option and lo and behold it worked! My gamer tag is: Zondaro
I'll probably be playing this and Rainbow Six 3 most of this weekend.
because...it's Amped 2.
