warren spector interview. good read.
it's linear, but still manages to have a very epic feel. there are many complex areas, some of which you visit more than once during the (very long) game.

That's definitely one of the more informative DX2 interviews.
The ammo thing sounds a little odd as it kills an element of realism. Spector seemed to disagree with it but he's giving Smith a lot of creative freedom. I just hope Smith knows what he's doing as director.
From everything I have read, it seems as though the internals of the development team are arranged much differently this time around and that the game will be a different experience because of it.
Spector thinks he's biting his nails? My anticipation and hope that this game lives up is killing me.
I picked up the PS2 port of the first game over the weekend - I have no PC at home - and what can I say, despite its age visually, it's quite an experience.
I don't think I'll finish it in time for IW's release, but I'm hoping to get far enough to be able to compare it with the changes in the sequel.

This'll hit before Half Life 2I was supposed to have been playing that already
At least that gives it a chance to shine.

I can't wait to play this game, it's on my xmas list although I doubt my gf will pick this one up since she knows nothing about it but I put 10 stars beside this one, the highest rating I gave to any game on my list... please get this one.
D
I just started blazing through the first one again...you can finish it in a day or two of marathon gaming if your up for it. And I'm glad that this game is coming out to hold up the wait for HL2 and DoomIII (which both will probably release in 2005) which both will probably be out AFTER I go active duty so it's good that at least one good game is coming out before then:P (Not to discount the other good games:P Max Payne 2 was tight as hell).
It's not like you're forced to play DX2 the very day it hits shelves. Take your time and absorb all of the story from part one before playing IW. You'll be glad you did.Originally Posted by BioMechanic

I probably should follow your advice though.

Well, to make a weak analogy, it'd be like reading The Two Towers after reading the first half of Fellowship. Deus Ex's plot keeps on twisting throughout the entire game, so even by the halfway point you probably have no idea on how things are going to end up. And the three endings of Deus Ex are what IW's story and setting leap from, so you won't get many of the references to the first game if you haven't finished it. Maybe worse, you'll get spoilers about the first game and then wonder how they came to be. Then curiosity will make you play the first game later. So you may as well play it now.![]()
