Thread: Deus Ex 2

  1. The PC requirement isn't gonna be too hefty, the UT2K3 Engine is pretty easy on systems.

More than what most action gamers want to deal with.
Max Payne's plot is very entertaining and well written, but not heavy enough that it may go over someones head. The thing is with Deus, to get into the storyline you really have to get into the game (reading the newspapers, hacking email, etc.). Things I feel most console gamers don't want to waste their time with. It is the depth on story which I feel is geared more towards a PC gamer, which I have often seen refered to as the "thinking gamer" (not my words-hold the flame).

Again, I WANT DX2 to succeed on the Xbox...and I hope that I am wrong.
Okay well then action gamers won't dig the game then (I think they will but thats beside the point). But the RPG gamers on the system will. Morrowind was a big seller and KOTOR was huge (isnt it like the 2nd best selling Xbox title or something?). And from my experience people were buying KOTOR as much for the RPG elements as for Star Wars.

So there's your audience on the Xbox.

Ill be really surprised if this game flops on the Xbox.

  3. i hope you're right..
how did the first game sell? i was under the impression that it didn't do too well.

    System Requirements:
Intel Pentium IV 1.3ghz (or AMD Athlon XP equivalent); Windows 98SE/2000/XP (95/NT not supported); 256 MB System RAM; 32 MB 100% DirectX 9.x compatible 3D graphics cards; 100% DirectX 9.x compatible-Compatible Sound Card; Quad Speed (4X) CD-ROM drive; 2GB free disk space; 100% Windows 98SE/2000/XP compatible mouse and keyboard
UT2K3 was reasonable (733 mhz min, 1.0 rec), but p4 1.3 min is pretty rough for most I would assume.

It did horrible. I wasn't able to track down the sales number, but they were not pretty. This was partially due to the game being release WAY after the PC release and being a sub-par port.

  5. oh hell, the sales argument again, if dx2 sells one copy on the x-box, that will be mine, and thats the one that i care about, if you dont work for the company, worry less about sales, and more about wether the game will be great or not.

  6. Sales are how sequels get made...well, unless it's Sega then it's a total guessing game.

  7. Demo! Hop on bit torrent and get it while it's hot. I'm getting about 10k/sec right now.
