Thread: The Official Morrowind Thread

That system will absolutely rock Morrowind. You'll still get frame rate issues and probably some crashes (I've never had the game crash actually, but it seems everyone else does), but those are problems in the game itself that will eventually be patched. 256 MB of RAM should be just fine, because the game runs the same for me with 512 as when I had 384.

  2. I had no doubt about the processor speed, however the RAM was what was troubling me for a bit. With 256 you don't think that it'll be to slow or anything do you? I figure if the minimum required amount is 128, then 256 will be fine...but with a game as large as Morrowind you can't really be too sure. But if the game rruns the same for you with 512 as opposed to 384 then that speaks some volumes...pretty much meaning that once you get 256 MB, more RAM doesn't create a negligable difference - thanks dude!

  3. Well, about the ram. My System is as follows.
    Pentium 4 1.8ghz
    256 DDR Ram
    GeForce2 64mb
And the rest doesnt really matter. Needless to say, loading is like a sec or two, at most.

Gah! WTF? They must be using a 512 chip instead of two 256 chips for them to purposfully kick up the price, because it shouldn't be that much.

In any case, I should be getting a new motherboard and chip soon (only going to cost me about $150 for a 1.8 ghz), and will wait to decide what graphic card I want. I'd love a top-of-the-line GeForce 4, but wonder if I should hold out and wait for the end of the year (and Doom III to get that much closer).

  6. Ugh, I would never ever buy a prebuilt system, but you should be fine. I have a 1.7GHZ with 512 memory and after a little tweaking, Morrowind runs perfect for me. I always get 30FPS or better unless there's a lot happening in an exterior. Interiors are usually 60FPS.

Finally gotten around to playing with the editor and trying to make a new city. Some stuff is really easy to do, while others are stupidly difficult. You would think copying and pasting would have to work right, but for some reason it feels the need to delselect everything. -_-

Patched the Creeper to give him more spending money. As a result, I know have 430,000 gold to spend on character improvement. Probably take on the main quest to the end after that. Also need to buy more arrows, always need more arrows...

That right there is why shopkeepers don't have a ton of gold.

  9. Okay, I'm taking liberties but after all that work for the Staff of the Magus, only to find that not only do its abilities suck, but I could only get maybe 1% of its value from regular merchants, I think the whole thing is a bit silly. What's the point of looting if I can only use them as expensive decorations? They should have a priceless value or something if they're not meant to be sold.
