Thread: The Official Morrowind Thread

  1. ok i have a question....im trying to become a vampire so what does it say when you are bitten by a vampire??

  2. ok i have run into a little more trouble, hopefully someone else has done this already.

I'm doing missions for the almoner in Ebonheart, and i have to get 500 gold from the head of Caldera Mining Co. He won't pay till i get proof he is stealing Ebony from the mine, and i'm supposed to ask the slaves in the mine where to get said proof. The problem is i freed all those slaves like a week ago, so there is no one there to tell me where it is. If someone can tell me where to get the proof, i would thank them.

  3. with regards to getting stuck - remember Ammadeus' important Morrowind tips!!!! Always use multiple save files!!! I have several!

    ...and fix me works fine....

You'll get a message saying "You have contracted some-word-starting-with-a-P (sorry, it flashed by too fast on the screen) Hemophilia". Sleep for three days, and you'll get a message about some weird dream, and you're a vampire. I caught it off a spell, which I thought was really weird. I figured it would take a melee attack. But it did take forever to catch. I had to reload a couple of times after exhausting my restore health potions and magic ring.

It is interesting to note that vampires are apparently complete pussies. Before reloading to specifically contract vampirism, I killed three of them without hardly taking a scratch. I'm only level seven, and my equipment is nothing special (Steel Vipersword, non-magical steel and silver armor).

  5. Yay! I was accepted for the beta test after all!
Boo! I can't download the damn patch. -_-

Most vampires are wusses, but the heads of the clans are badasses. My level 5 character cleared out most of the vampires in a clan HQ, only for the two remaining ones to kick my ass (seperately) in seconds. Whack-poison-whack-stagger-dead. x_x

This weekend I decided to turn my character Sauron into a vampire. I thought I had prepared for the event well, but I made a huge mistake. While I knew that I couldn't use any of the fast transport methods after, I didn't think the Telvanni, who I was ranked Mouth and who don't care at all about vampires, would deny me services. They did and there was some stuff I really needed to buy later. -_-

So if you want to vamp your character out, buy everything you need beforehand, especially spells, and have plenty of health potions because you'll need them for and after the change. It took 45 mins (real time) of exposing my character to vampire touch over and over to finally contract said vamparisim. He warped home and rested for 3 days to complete the transformation.

The results were quite pleasing to say the least. Stronger, a hell of a lot faster, could jump much higher, and a number of skills all shoot through the roof. Gained vampire touch and was supposed to gain some sort of levitation, but didn't get that. -_-

First thing you learn as a vampire is to keep track of time. Sunlight can kill you faster than most monsters. Next, vampire touch is a bitch to cast and you're better off using some healing item instead. I have a ring of regeneration that's just perfect. Lastly, Morrowind is huge if you have to walk everywhere, not matter how fast you run. I live in Vos, but now have to travel to Ebonheart, on the other side of the damn contenent. -_-

Interestingly, while they deny me services, I can still do Telvanni quests, but the best thing for a vampire to do is to do the vampire quests because you can get the full perks and services of a vampire this way, which will me someone to repair your armor and an amulet to teleport back to the vamp HQ. See your clan leader for details.

  6. Well, I'm finally getting to a level where I can start killing people somewhat easier - simply because I got a bad assed new sword and some new armor. I hadn't changed my armor in awhile b/c I was just forgetting to.

I curious to know as to where everyone else has an established "base" (like a home or something) - as in which city? Mine is in Balmora right now in the Nerano Manor - my 3 story house(!!), as that the primary region I've stuck to right now. But I'm preparing my character for an serious excursion either North to Caldera or South East to Vivec and the lands out there. I'll probably establish another home base in addition to my Balmora base in some other city across the map somewhere. Its comforting to have many of those.

x5 is the maximum multiplier, and to get it you need all ten of your skills that contributed to the level up to be reliant on the same attribute (or just level up one skill ten times). And only major and minor skills can give you multipliers over x2. What happens is that it takes one half of whatever attributes whose skills you levelled up and makes that your multiplier. So if you level up security 6 times and long blade four times for your level up, you'll get a x3 (half of the 6 for security) for intelligence and x2 for strength (half of the 4 for long blade). To max your stats, what you want to do is raise one skill (or only skills that share one attribute) to ten, so you get a x5 multiplier for that attribute, and then raise two different miscellanous skills (by 4, I think, for the x2). Then you'll get x5 to one stat and x2 to two others. I think you can only get three multipliers.

One of the general FAQs on GameFAQs (the second one, I think) does a MUCH better job of explaining this, but even the guy who wrote is isn't totally positive about the way it works.
A little late, but now that I'm pretty advanced level-wise and seem to have a much better grip on how it works, I wanted to point out that this is mostly wrong, and I apologize for misleading anyone.

You can get more than three multipliers, and they can all be x5 if you do it correctly. In fact, you can get a x5 multiplier on every attribute but Luck if you really wanted, although it would be a waste. Also, you can get x5 multipliers through raising miscellaneous skills. The only time when you raise misc skills all under the same governing attribute and won't get a x5 is if you train all ten levels. However, if you raise 9 misc skills under the same governing attribute through training, and then manually raise any (misc, minor, or major) skill under the same attribute, you will get a x5. Also, if you raise 9 misc skills under the same governing attribute through training, and then raise one minor or major skill under the same attribute through training, you will get a x5 multiplier. It's pretty easy to get three x5 multipliers if you plan ahead (although you may not want to do this every time, because sometimes you want to raise Luck, and getting an extra x5 multiplier can be a waste. But don't worry, you should be able to get all the other attributes to 100 pretty easily, even if you waste a bunch of multipliers). I have tested this all pretty throroughly (I went from level 9 to 17 last night) and am no longer relying on a FAQ, so I'm 99% sure this is correct.

But damn, does this game get easy when you get up in levels and get some decent equipment on your hands.

So how far along is everyone now? C'mon lets get some reports going! Where in Morrowind is you character and what is he/she up to?

  9. Well my journal is 194 pages long and i am currently concentrating on the Fighter's Guild quests. I finished all the ones in balmora and Ald'ruhn (unless more get opened up later) and am working out of Sadrith Mora. They really need to make another form of transportation, like horses for example, to get around the island faster. Going from west coast to east coast and back is the biggest bitch.

I just got a great new helm, Oreyn Bearclaw's helm, which fortifies agility 40 points and some other stat as well, while also having the highest AC of any armor i have come across yet. It's somewhere in the 80s. I don't remember exactly because i haven't played in the last 2 days beacause...

I just upgraded my computer from 256 MB RAM to 512 and spent a lot of time overclocking my graphics card to see what kind of improvement i could get. I'll have time to spend with Morrowind tomorrow to see how it works out. I did manage to increase my 3DMark2001 by 300 points

Currently my Dark Elf is at level 7 and i'm looking for some folks in Vivec for the Blades.
