    USTFU!

  3. Am I the only one who doesn't consider Maximo a platformer? Personally I'd call it an action game with a few elements of platforming.....

    My pick is Vexx.

    Yes, really.

  4. Viewtiful Joe isn't a platformer.

I'd go with Sly Cooper and Mario Sunshine at the top, then Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank right behind them. Klonoa 2 and Maximo are great as well. I still haven't tried out Jak II yet, but I will soon.

Same here. With that said, Sunshine gets my vote.

  6. So what does/doesn't make VJ or Maximo a platformer in everyones wizened opinions?

Yes. Because it is a platformer.

And VJ isn't one. I just know because I know. Just like Zelda (except for the Adventure of Link) is NOT an RPG.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

  8. And we can only hope that Ratchet & Clank Going Commando lives up to the first and then some...

  9. Maximo is most certainly a platformer in just about every respect. Heck, some of the platforming elements are hard at that!

If VJ had nothing but action without the platforming elements I'd just call it an action title but it has enough of a mix for me to want to include it in the genre as I see it a mix of both action and platforming.

I mean, yeah its not a pure platformer but whats there I'd include since it affects gameplay.
