    Dreamcast Maracas Secrets...

OK, one of my maracas was acting up, so I took it apart to try and fix it (which I did... GENIUS!!).

I just thought it was a really simple and cool mechanism that they used. All it is is a long and loose spring with a metal rod inside of it. When you shake, the spring moves and touches the bar inside, completing the circuit and activating the maraca. Pretty cool. Here's some pics:

  2. hey that's pretty cool. Do you suppose it needs a new spring or would the boards have something to do with it?

*tries to imagine how hard it would be to get new springs that size

Nah, it had just come a little loose somehow. I simply put it back in place and it works fine.

  4. Do you guys remember when in ODCM they made custom "day of the dead" maracas? I want somebody on here to make custom maracas. Who is up to the task?

  5. I remember seeing that, shaking 2 skulls around would have been sweet.

  6. Mine shake just fine. It's the detection of height and area that ruin my perfect scores. I don't think it's as easy to fix as the shake function.

You should add some more beads to make the shake more convincing. Hell, you could probably mod some real maracas into Samba controllers.

With the officials, I can get perfects in Hard Mode consistently.

Super Hard, however, is an entirely different story.

  8. Little off the topic, but how bad are the different 3rd party maracas out there? I have an official set, but would like a second for multi, but don't want to shell out $100-$125.

I once bought an "official" set from eBay to go with mine (they came with import Samba and Samba 2000 all for about $150, so I could resell the games) and ended up with the Cha Cha ones. They sucked horrid nuts, and I sent them back to the guy. Got my money back, thank god.

They suck, is the point. Can't move them as quickly, thus rendering them useless unless you're only going to play on Easy mode.

Hey, I'm the genius that bought the torx, took it apart, took the pics with my dig cam, fixed it and put it back together. All you did was put your big hand in the picture. Nyah.
