I just got myself a 156 chain on my way to a hunt near the west side of the Nam Desert, earned myself a cool 19,000 doing it too. Those little caped desert guys can suck it.![]()

I'm in the same boat as you, the flamming main character aside is the metro stuff toned down at all? I'm not going to lie I didn't follow this game one iota during it development. The only reason I care now is the glowing reviews just about everyone no matter how anti final fantasy has given it.
It's very... old englishy. But no even the main character doesn't act flaming at all, he just looks retarded.
And the desert was a blast, 207 chain kekeke.
One thing though is that the license thing just.. feels too small :/ like Fran is almost done with all the magic Licenses already at level 18. (I mean the magic damage increases, cost decreases etc.)
I've gotta' disagree about all the glowing reviews this game has been receiving. The license system is so rediculous it almost breaks the game. I mean, really, really close. You basically have to buy everything you would use twice. Want to buy a long sword? Fine, but you can't use it until you buy the license for it either. Find some great new armor in a dungeon? Can't use it till you get the license for it. Get a kicking new ring (A god damn ring!) in a chest? Can't put it on your finger till you've gotten the proper license for it. Awesome! That what I want in a game! Safety Nazis! "It's like buying training for the weapon." No, it's not. It's unnecessary, and stupid. The license system would have been a great way to get bonus' and new skills, but having to do it all twice is just awful. I can't explain how frustrating it can be.
That combined with not being able to change the axis' brings this within a hair of turning the whole experience sour. It's incredibly upsetting because everything else about the game is so fantastic.
"But they're such little things!" I don't care, there's no excuse for either of them.
This could have been a 10, but it'll have to settle for much less from me based on these two things.
