Thread: Let's recap: Shin Samurai Spirits (Samurai Shodown II) (ARC/NG).

SS2 is good and all, definatly the best in the series... but Last Blade 2 embarrases it in every way possible.

Last Blade 2 = perfection. It has never been topped by any fighting game, and unless Last Blade 3 really does something amazing, it never will.

Agreed even tho my heart still feels the love towards Samurai Shodown II.

As far as the Last Blade series goes You should give part 1 another shot. As much as I loved part 2, The 1st one seemed to have some slightly better control issues to me.

That and I felt there was more....presentation in the 1st than the 2nd. Zantetsu's stage is still one of the most pretty I've even seen in that series.

    Part one = no Hibiki.

In the meanwhile, you can find Sieger design's successor in GGX's Potemkin.

Only that Last Blade 2 is a 1998 game. I use to make veredicts looking at what was there before the game's release date, not after that. And, for the moment it was released, SSS is a better game than LB2.

Indeed I can. Nice of them to keep using the fighting style. I prefer a big, bald guy with a giant arm thingy than a freak of nature though.

scan lines are retarded for screen grabs

I promised myself not to comment any more on the scanlines thing, but can't help making you this question: Why, if you hate so much my threads' screeshots, you do keep reading them?

  7. Excellent fucking question Recap. I look forward to the intelligent explanation that you'll no doubt recieve.

"Last Blade 2 embarrases it in every way possible."

The first Last Blade definitely does too. I never thought any of the SS entries could compare to either Last Blade game. Those are deifnitely my favorite swordy/weapon fighters of all time. I have the highest hopes for LB3, but I'm also acutely aware of the huge potential these people have for making boring, tired and insignificant software. Basically, I'm being kept in suspense. SSV turned out pretty awesome and I've been using that fact as a beacon of hope that they can still make something kickass in the post SNK era.

I've been saying this for a while now... as good as part 2 was, I still like the original because the control is slightly different, in a good way. The Custom Combo crap I could pull off with the monk was insanely cool. Now, his shoryuken move is a charge move. Sucks.

Yes, Last Blade 1 and 2 definitely surpass SamSho in every way.

  9. I actually like the scanlines being in the pics in this thread, they help highlight the intricate areas of the graphics.
