oh, and although i didn't have enough for an ipod, i strongly recommend a Sony MiniDisc player.
Na, you can still pic up some amazing Discmans, last month I bought a Panasonic MP3/CD. It hold like 150 mp3s, folder sorting, dosent skip no matter how much I tried to make it, and looks great.

Although an Ipod is cool, I dont need anything more then my discman offers.

I carry mine in my briefcase, for those times when I'm waiting around. At $99, it does all it needs to do, play games and that's what's most important to me.
I dident say they dident, it appeals to everyone. The PSP would not if it had that design and price.

  2. Discman mp3 players are ghetto. I would take a MiniDisc player any day over that noise (mostly thanks to Lucas' testimonials, though). The only reason I use a Discman now is because I got it free.

He may have been buying one for his kid.

  3. I'm thinking the over five hundred dollar remark was just said to make the thing look good. "I'm sure it'll debut at a lower price, but this thing can run graphics that a $500 machine can! w00t!"

  4. Hype. This thing will cost 500 bucks! People will say several months before launch. Then, a few months before hand the handsome price of 200 - 150 dollars will appear and stick for launch and people will be amazed that they got one at such a great prices, and what with them being so har dot find (que artificial demand by limiting initial quantities, Gamestop employees making it worse by saying, "man we can't keep them in stock for less than a few hours after we get them!" and it's all smooth sailing for the PSP from there.

Minidisc's own. It's no iPod but it's still slick and high quality and the money saved if enormous.

    I would imagine.

Then again, I don't believe one single thing I read about how great a Sony system is until about a year after launch.

For me to gripe about the "tapwave," I'd have to know what it is.

    1] That's a good policy.

Why do people STILL buy portable CD players? For God's sake, it IS the year 2003.

Two PS2 units - US and Japanese. Both run in vertical mode 100% of the time. Not one problem with either.
    Consider yourself lucky then.

Quality. No matter how you put it, uncompressed music from a decent player with a nice pair of headphones will sound better than compressed music from a decent player to a descerning ear.

That being said, I love my MD player.

Actually, it was a college age dude, with his mother. They were heading to the airport, to go on a flight to Europe. The guy wanted one to play while on the flight.

I think the SP's design has helped bridge the gap a little more, than the very toy looking GBA.
