anybody hope that since Leno Ruins Primetime starts tonight that the nbc execs will loosen the reigns on conan a bit, like me?
I hope he steals whoever is writing the Leno-style cut-to-an-unfunny-5-second-clip jokes that Conan had never done before the Tonight Show.
You know, the ones in the monologue where Leno/Conan sets up the joke and it cuts to a clip of Kevin Eubanks/Max's face superimposed on someone elses body and it's NEVER even remotely clever?
Yeah I realized about week 2-3 how watered down this Conan was. Homogenized. It has moments of brilliance, but most of the time I can't be bothered to even check in (the nights I'm not in the studio working anyway). It's a bummer because of how solid Late Night was.
It was to be expected, I guess. And the show still has moments. I just remember what was and cannot stomach it.

maybe that means no more watered down conan!!!
Jay's set reminds me of The Arsenio Hall show for some reason.
I haven't been watching Conan because... I've always liked Conan but I've never watched late night talk shows regularly save maybe The Daily Show, but how has he been watered down?
all the bits he usually recycles endlessly just aren't that funny and not as offensive/outrageous as some of the LN bits were (save for a slim handful), and the running theory is that nbc executives made him tone it down to keep advertisers/viewers happy since he's in the earlier time slot
for example, we haven't seen the masturbating bear nor artie kendall (the ghostly image of brian stack that sings racist/sexist songs) yet
