Save subway artists
On December 1st, without due process or public comment, the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) will put into effect discriminatory and unreasonable new restrictions on subway performers.
These new regulations, which overturn an 18-year working agreement between artists and the MBTA, will:
*Ban all, even modest, amplification
*Greatly limit locations and hours of performance
*Totally eliminate certain types of instruments
please sign this petition it only takes a minute

Hehe. Slacktivisim.
This petition, I doubt it's going to solve much... why don't people just start protesting in the stations and on trains?
...On second thought, maybe it's better that they don't. The green line's crowded enough as-is most days.![]()
I used to take the Metro (subway) to work when I lived in the DC area, and I became quite fond of the musicians. Some of them were damn good, like the guy who played what sounded like Schubert on an electric guitar. I hated my job, so those people always made my day just a little bit better.
This reminds me of that commercial where the dad and his kid are walking down the street, and they pass a street musician playing his violin. The kid looks over and coldly says "Get a job." I think it was for a NPO supporting the arts.
If you could get a lot of people to write tangiable letters to the MBTA, it would make a much larger impact on the organization. They would be a lot more impressed that you took 30 minutes to write a cohersive letter versus two seconds to sign a petition online.
Tones, seriously. I would wager that 15 actual letters would mean far more than a 2,000 signature e-petition.
And Slacktivism is so true, so true. Its all just masturbation.
heck if it makes him happy I'll sign it, Montreal's Metro is always gonna have a few soul brothas playing the sax, and for that, they deserve my dollar!
Your revolution is a silly idea, yeah.
All your friends are feeling sad.
La la la la, revolution... never happened.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1
My Backloggery
Hey, while we're protesting the MBTA doing stupid shit, how about those 2004 fares? Everything's rising 25 cents... lame. I was hoping since normal fares are going to $1.25, the ride back from Fenway on the green line would stay the same and I wouldn't need to carry extra quarters with my tokens to pay the fare there, but... nope! Now it's $1.50.
Not a lot... but annoying.
