Thread: Stippling artdump

Hitler has such a rad haircut.

  2. Anyone who can stipple has a level of patience I can only admire. ^^
They don't take all that long, but if you find you don't have the patience to finish a pic, put it up and finish it the next day/week/month.

Anyways, nice work Nomi. The zoom in on the eye in particular.

  3. Oh my god!! Hitler does have a pretty rad haircut, which I prefer to call a hairdo!

    Thats because you're gay.

  5. I'm getting a Hitler next time I cut my hair.
    o_O

I'm going to make the mistake to see if anyone would like something like this done from their own picture. I've about finished my last few up (will post when I get to my scanner) and need new material. I'm at a lack of anything to do for the moment.

So, if you have a picture (yourself, whoever really) and you'd like to see me attempt a stippling of it, toss me a PM. I'd prefer things without striking contrast, it makes for an easier subject. More than one image is fine, if you'd like me to pick what'd be easier. No complex backgrounds, please.

I'm up for a challenge ^^ My pen is still holding enough ink for a few more, so help me out here.

Why not try to try a still-life instead of a portrait?

Also, have you ever tried scratchboard? If you haven't tried it, it's pretty fun to do, and is similar to stippling in that once a mark is on the paper, it can't be removed or covered up discreetly. You can get the scratchboard pre-covered, or you can create your own by covering a piece of paper with India ink. You just need a sharp pin taped to a pencil or similar apparatus to scratch.

  8. Yeah, I've done scratchings before. Nothing to be that proud of, really. I did an anime one once, and a horse that I actually have lying behind my desk right now. Not spectacular at all and I didn't really enjoy the experience all that much.

I guess I have a thing against working with knives. (I used an X-acto at the time)

And I suppose a still-life would work. I haven't quite considered much outside of portraits, considering they're all I've tried. Now, to find a decent reference.

  9. I have no idea how you have the patience for stippling. I did it and I liked the outcome, but the dots drove me mad...
    Excellent work though, Nomi
I like my women like I like my coffee. Covered in bees!

  10. I'm telling you guys, it isn't patience! I'm horribly impatient in everything, including this. I think it's just the fact that I have way too much free time and no money for new games.

Anyway, I updated a little bit. I've been experimenting with using my left hand (no feeling) to see if it works. So far, not bad considering I have no idea how hard I'm gripping the pen. If this works out, I can stipple for hours with no painful cramping in the hand

Excuse the darkness on the right half. Used my scanner as a footrest halfway through the scan. I lack common sense.
