You sir, are a hideous hermaphroditical character which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.
The whole point of the Scouring was to root out Saruman. He'd gone into hiding there under the name "Sharkey" - from the Uruk word sharku, i.e. "old man" - and he & Wormtongue were up to no good, kind of turning the hobbits against one another, as I remember. Frodo, Sam, Merry, & Pippen organize a small hobbit rebellion, the end result of which was the restoration of order and the death of Saruman & Wormtongue. Wormtongue gets fed up with Saruman's hold over him, jumps the wizard from behind and slits his throat with a knife, and then gets shot by hobbit-arrows when he tries to flee.
It would have been very cool to have seen this sequence filmed, but since the film's ending is so drawn-out, I admit it wouldn't have worked.

True. Even with all his treachery, Frodo still wanted Saruman to be set free. But Grima took matters into his own hands, rebelling against the power that controlled him. This kind of echoes Gollum ultimately destroying the Ring, even though that wasn't his intent, which only adds to the tragedy of his existence.Originally Posted by Tracer
It's like Frodo is supposed the poster-boy for ethical perfection (which makes it so wonderfully ironic when he ends up surrendering to the Ring in the end). Now that I think of it, in fact, I don't remember a single instance where Frodo kills anyone, man or beast, in the entire trilogy. I recall him stabbing a troll in the foot at Balin's Tomb, but that's about it for Frodo & violence. Sam, Merry, & Pippen all have blood on their hands at one point or another.......I guess Frodo's strength shows in other ways.
