Rockstar among other compinaies have upped the violence/gore/shock factor and cater to a older more mature crowd. If Violence is acceptable in M games than why are devlopers leery to make a straight out console AO game Adult games, with graphic sex scenes. They could localize a popular hentai title. Not sure if it would be the type of gaming people would want in America, but like the saying goes sex sells. Still the idea of the first AO title could be a big thing for an upstart company, the contorversy would genrate a buzz like nothing before. Any thoughts? Is graphic violence less offensive than sex? Gamecube probally would never go for it, but maybe PS2 and X-Box can have an adult/ mommy/daddy game. Consinder how much the porn industry is worth and how popular games are...

I don't see a console release in the States even if it is rated AO. America seems to tolerate violence but anything with graphic sex/nudity would send the watch dogs into dry heaves.

Yeah, but an AO rating for games is like an X rating for a move. Its box-office suicide.

The first legitimate, hi-profile game that introduces scenes of hardcore sex had better be very intelligently designed for the concept to take off.

Even then, AO for games is no different than NC-17 for movies, and the profits generated from a title that alienates such a large chunk of consumer demographic likely won't justify the cost of a high-quality/large-budgeted game.

This concept has a better chance of survival in the European market, where I believe the threshold for nudity and gratuitous depictions of sex aren't as low as the US's (and Japan's to a slightly lesser degree). It's already rare for a Hollywood-produced movie to show sexual acts. This concept in video games won't fly in the US for quite some time.

Uh, there are quite a lot of good japanese H-games available. It is just that it is hard to find any real good reason to put them in a regular game as it will really shrink the demographic that they are selling to.
