THUG did that too me for a couple hours when I first bought it...works fine since. I have no idea.
There is an error with the Disc you're using.
It may be dirty or damaged. Please press A to continue.
Is this message familiar to other Xbox owners here? What the hell is going on in there. My disc sure wasn't dirty or damaged, the game was brand new, out of the box. But 1hour into Hunter: The Reckoning Redeemer (which kick ass) and the damned message appear after a loading screen.
It wasn't the first time I saw that. Two other games popped that message, one was a rental though. And I got two more games at home that suffer from sound and music skips.
Is my Xbox dying already? Because the way I handle my CDs, I doubt they are the ones at fault here. I remember a thread about how Knights Of The Old Republic screwed they Xbox drive. And at that time, I remember myself having sound skips for the first time in KOTOR. Is it possible for a game to damage a DVD player?

ESPN Hockey is my more recent game to do this to me. Midway Arcade classics has also done this a few times to me.
You're DVD drive was likely damaged slightly when you got it. It happens and it could be months - or years even, in my case - before you notice the problem. KotOR is just a good dip stick to check if it's working properly. If you got a launch unit than you have the crappy Thomson drive and you'll want to either replace the drive with one of the two newer ones - Panasonic and Toshiba - or just buy a new laser lens. For clarifications sake, KotOR does not mess up your DVD drive, it just lets you know that there is a problem.
I got my original XBox about a month after launch and all of 3 months later I began seeing that message. By 6 months it didn't read discs at all. I got a new one (had a warrenty from work) and just now I'm starting to get the same message. God. Damn. If I have to get anothr one then it ties the PS2 replacement record for me.
I thought you were gay.... i guess not.
Tragic, if you're confident enough just replace the lens yourself.

Got my Xbox when JSRF came out and I see that message exactly once a month unless there's something specificly wrong with the disc. I don't know why it's once a month, though it might be further proof xboxes are female.

most of the xbox dvd drives are shit..
i recommend trying to clean the lens, or if that fails, doing something like this:
