I have no problem knocking it, I'm just wondering how could it be GOTY caliber when we've all seen that honor belong to different games outside of sports titles? The series is ok, but there has to be some serious tweaking or overhaul to even be considered as great.

Because Madden 2004 was such a GIANT AMAZING EARTH SHATTERING leap from 2003, that it should be GOTY in every magazine and award show.

It's obvious why Madden 2004 is GOTY, because it's a football game, on a network "for men". I can name at least 10 other games which easily, easily surpass Madden 2004. in the last few months alone. I'm almost surprised DoA Volleyball didn't nab GOTY.

Good list. Nice to see DOAX, THUG, and True Crime on it. Three games I really enjoyed. I'm not going to argue Madden as GOTY since I haven't played it, but if you think about it from a sheer sales standpoint, what other choice could there be? To some people it probably was the only game they bought all year.

See though that's an opinion. My boss at EB was a gamer in every sense of the word, and he said that Madden was the game of the year a number of times. Why? Because it's his favorite game of the year. Simple as that.

So, if you think "that honor" belongs to KOTOR (like me), fine. If you think it belongs to Wario Ware, fine. If you think it belongs to Madden, fine.

I mean, really YOU dont think its GOTY caliber, but plenty of people do. End of story. Just because its a sports game doesn't disqualify it from anything.

I have no prob saying Madden GOTY, but ... Enter The Matrix? I played that pile once and I hated every minute the only reason I continued to play was for the sheer lameassness of it all. SD: HCTP as Fightinggame of the year? My lord who chose the winners ... Helen Keller? My dog ... Pip copuld pick a better winner than a damn Wrestling Game ... HEY SPIKETV ... WRONG FREAKING GAME FOR THE DARN CATAGORY! Now everyone understands why video games should NOT go mainstream ... and why the General Public SUCKS!

Sure.

Best Performance By A Human - Ray Liotta in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Yep.

Best Game Based on a Movie - Enter the Matrix
Shitty game, but it's not like you should expect any good games in this category.

Most Addictive - Soul Calibur II
I have no problem with this.

Best Action Game - True Crime: Streets of LA
I would've picked something else like Viewtiful Joe or Max Payne 2, but this doesn't offend me.

Pontiac/GTO Driving Award - Nascar Thunder 2004
I guess this is the same as "Best Driving Game," and I don't have any complaints with this either. I've played a couple of the Nascar games in the past few years, and they seem like fun to people who would know anything about it.

Best Fantasy Game - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Here's my game of the year winning like it deserves.

Best Sports Game - Tony Hawk's Underground
I agree.

Best Fighting Game - WWE Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain
VF4:Evo, GGXX, or SC2 would've been much better.

Most Anticipated Game - Halo 2
Definitely.

Best Handheld Game - Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
This is stupid, but it's not like it's that bad a game on the GBA.

Best Online Game - Final Fantasy XI
Sure.

Best 1st Person Action - Call of Duty
Fuck yes. I was happily surprised that this won.

Best PC Game - Halo: Combat Evolved
This is just stupid, but it's not like Halo is a bad game, so whatever.

Game of the Year - Madden NFL 2004
If any of you would put the time into Madden (or any time, for that matter) that you put into your silly Japanese RPGs or shooters, you would know that this game only marginally improves year after year because it's so fucking great that there's not much to change but minor tweaks and added bonus features. I would've given this to KOTOR, but as long as Madden keeps being so good, it can be GOTY every year if it wants.

Best Music - Def Jam Vendetta
A lot of people like hip-hop. I won't tell them they're wrong.

Other than Best Fighting Game and Handheld game, this is a great list.

Maybe if you pay attention. In my darn post I complained about two choices. NOT the whole darn list. SO, open your eyes, pay attention, and think next time before you reply.

Now, don't you think its funny that SD won for fighting game of the year? When the WWE is on and has alot of time on ... Spike TV? And its rumored for awhile, that when the Viacom contract runs out for SD ... that it would switvh to Spike TV? Hmmm ... strange.
