Thread: Spike TV: Running Commentary of Video Game Awards

  1. Sorry, My sinuses are filled with bacteria, and apparently they're connected to my brain, arms and everything just above my toes... I just fell asleep while drinking a mountain dew...

I am afraid to go to bed, I think I am going to wake up after Christmas.... Next Year's Christmas.

  2. I wonder how long it took Lil' Kim to memorize her lines about Madden. Oh! And she plays online too!

    Worst. Awards. Ever.

  3. I imagine there were worse...

  4. The funniest thing about the show. When a game wins.

[Camera 2- pan to random people at a random table (pop a bottle)]

Spike expects people to believe those were the people that developed these winning games.

Best fighting game? WWE of course! And what do we have here? A real wrestling match to follow it up!

    Disgusting.

From what I've read elsewhere, it's that even though people voted online, it was still rigged in certain areas. They had the skating after tony hawk, the wrestling after WWE, the raiderettes being there.. this was probably plannned months in advance, I doubt any part of the voting online was actually "real".

  6. The fact that they'd fly in WWE wrestlers, a ring, commentators... yeah, definitely rigged to some degree. Plus, "best fighting game" was the only category SD 5 was nominated in, so it had to win something to justify bringing the wrestlers in. The SD: Here Comes the Pain banner in the background of the ring area was really shameless as well. Still, I'm glad these "awards" happened, as they give us a new measuring stick for mediocrity to judge things about gaming on mainstream TV.

  7. At least the show had good wrestlers. Too bad the match got hijacked.

  8. Yeah, and Rey and Chris probably had to tone things down a bit since they really could do much high flying since there were no barricades surrounding the ring, they were awfully close to the folks just sitting around. Decent match though, very reminiscent of their bouts in WCW. Nice touch with Rey wearing the attire he wears in SD 5.

Seeing as how the list of nominated games included ones that hadn't even been released yet, I'm gonna have to say that reason wasn't even considered.
