But what defines that? I think a strong argument could be made that 99% of all 2D fighters plagarized Street Fighter. Unique characters, lifebars, varying levels of basics, combinations of input to produce more attacks, 2-in-1s, links, chains, overheads, meaties, priorities, invicibility windows, recovery time, charging, block damage. Hell, the details of throwing alone are more than enough. I'm not saying "<some 2D fighter> is a game where two people fight, kinda like Street Fighter", these are very specific, detailed aspects that were lifted straight from SF and SF2. With a patent slapped onto SF, one of the greatest game genres ever would likely not have emerged.

  2. Anyone who's played both games can easily see that it is really a clone of it. But the legitimacy in question should be if Sega can truly patent a gameplay style. That to me seems like a joke.

All game companies should be lucky Nintendo didn't patent side scrolling platformers with Super Mario Bros became popular or this industry would be screwed.

I believe Atari patented that as well.

They worked on Madden 96 for Playstation, which got delayed so much it never came out and Gameday took over the football market. Which is why EA cut VC loose.

I thought I'd check into it myself and came up with the history of Visual Concepts. They made the horrible ESPN football for the SNES.

  6. Does this mean that Rockstar is gonna sue Fox over Hit and Run now?

Here's a hint for future Simpsons games: STOP FUCKING RIPPING SHIT OFF YOU IDIOTS, you have a MASSIVE character base and HUGE possible stories. STOP BEING DUMBASSES AND MAKE A NEW ORIGINAL GAME!!!!!!!!

The Simpsons is a franchise too good to not have good games. Hit and Run was the first game I enjoyed and it still has problems.
