I play the arcade version, but I can't see what would be particularly difficult language-barrier wise.Originally Posted by Videodrone
I beleive it's supposed to come out on PS2 domestically, though. Could be mistaken.
I was wondering about Initial D as well...Alot of people seem to like it, but havn't heard much about it. Is it Importer friendly?

I didn't find either game hard at all, and though RRV was much shorter, there was less tedium of collecting that many cars. Plus the Pac-Man race freaking rocked. The Pac-Man car in R4 is hardly worth the effort to see.Originally Posted by diffusionx
The 99 Trial was annoying, though. Did it anyway.
R4's intro still dominates everything, though. The music for it = wow. Most of R4's music in general, that is. I liked the inclusion of real artists in RRV, though. Boom Boom Satellites are awesome, and I thought Fogbound was an awesome theme for RRV.
I hope not. Initial D fans seem to like nothing better than to bitch about products that were localized in a manner that was not to their liking. Tokyopop namechanges this, Tokyopop dropping car information that... If they don't like it, no one's making them pick up the US versions.Originally Posted by Frogacuda
I'd like to try it, and though I do think it'd be cooler with eurobeat music and all that stuff that US Initial D is apparently lacking, I'll take it any way I can get it.
Also, question: anyone pick up Apex for Xbox? I bought it because everyone talked about how much the story mode was reminiscent of R4 and... blah. Gameplay wasn't to my liking. I tried really hard to dig it but I just couldn't.
edit: hmm, didn't realize the new board doesn't connect posts. Odd.
Initial D: Special Stage for the PS2 was is totally awesome. I hate playing games in Japanese but I managed to make it through just fine, even the story mode. It's definetly a safe import.
I feel like RRV is the best playing Ridge Racer of the whole series. Everything about the cars just feels right. Also the inclusion of drafting definetly helped out the core gameplay. Now if only we could take the gameplay of RRV, the tracks of R4 and the look of R:RE...
Play Guitar Hero //
I played a demo of Apex, and I didn't like it one bit either (either tho it got great reviews generally speaking). It is $19.99 now at Bestbuy.
then you won't like the translated arcade version. that's if you're lucky enough to find one. all the names are done up with the Tokyopop translation. if it comes out, great. if it doesn't, i'll look at getting the other drift game by genki.I hope not. and RRV is great, just never play it 2-player. *shudders*
You can replace "Initial D" fans with almost anything. Anime, videogames, etc, etc.Originally Posted by Grave

Nah, man, doesn't bother me. I'm not much of an Initial D fan... though, I love cars and thought I would be... it just doesn't do it for me. The driving sequences are cool, but the characters... blah.Originally Posted by Ashen Victor
This is why I think I'd like the game! So I hope it comes over, and if not, I'll hopefully be getting a job and that Japanese PS2 soon. Whee.
I'd by no means consider RRV the best in the series, but it costs next to nothing these days so even if it doesn't stack up against the rest of the franchise it's a lot easier to stomach.
