Thread: Most depressing movie ever?

  1. Most depressing movie ever?

I just saw Festen, which scores muchos points on the depressing scale, but it simply cannot cope with the abject glare of Breaking the Waves. It's 3 months on and I can still barely handle thinking about it, so that gets my vote. Emily Watson's first performance, and it's probably the best performance I've ever seen, it's so fucking soul-destroying.

Anybody want to propose a different film? And I mean depressing in the way that it attempts to be depressing, not that it's so bad you want to kill yourself

    Suburban Commando. It was so sad when he had to leave at the end ;_;
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1
    My Backloggery

  3. Any movie where a dog dies. Thousands of people can die, children can die too. But don't mess with the damn dog!

  4. Either A.I. or Saving Private Ryan.

  5. Grave of the Fireflies

I love this movie. I've shown it to people who think anime is for bunch of little kids and they come away crying like a bunch of bitches afterwards.

    It's lovely.

  7. Requiem for the Dream is quite depressing.

Alot of Asian films are end on dark/sad/depressing note. Take Audition for example.

And they kill that cute dog too

  8. Werd. There's this korean film, Filan or Pilan, think that's what it's called. Pretty depressing film.

  9. Audition no longer made me want to hear the sound of a young Japanese girl saying "deeper" while straddling me.

Requiem For A Dream made me want to go find a hole somewhere and just die like a sick dog.

Aside from those two, I'd say I found End of Evangelion pretty depressing. Along with incomprehensibly fucking weird.
    Time for a change

  10. Zoolander, for whatever reason, I felt compelled to kill myself afterwards.

Aside from that; Boys Don't Cry was pretty sad.
