This was the original sketch before I accessorized his ass.
This is what I have so far, and I'm happy with it. I still have to add on some shoulder pads. The story behind the cartoon melded with some fine details is because I'm redoing Joystick Adventures to be more of a story, not just a simple humour site. We had some classics in the old site, some misses and a bunch of variants in between, but something with a cool story and a neat world to explore is definitely something better tuned to my skills, I think.
The idea is that they fall through a big portal and end up materializing in the sky (a huge portal opens). They fall and land on this guy, who is a honoured warrior amongst his people. Jonas (the afro guy, if you're familiar with our comic) turns in to a barbarian-esque looking fellow), and my character (baxter) materializes in to a robot. We're going to loosely base each world on some aspect of a videogame. Whether it be so clumsely based on the green mountains with faces in the background of Mario 3, or Ivalice of FFT, it can change.
After we land on the guy, he brings us to his leader for proding. So we end up as fugitives because they think we are otherlander spies. So we're pursued and whatnot. As we run away from our captors we experience these unique and neat little societies and worlds.
The main kingdom is based around relics such as little stones. He's apart of a vigilant portion of the military, hence the ripped sleeves while everything else is pretty trim and proper. The orange armor he wears is granted after you accomplish different levels amongst the ranks of their group. This is why not all the armor is orange in tint. His axe is magical, and has 2 powerful magic stones welded into their blades.
It's basically all so I can just do whatever I want. I mean, if I want to have vampires vs. some alien monster trying to harvest their kind for food then I'll do it. Stuff like that is not off limits. Anyway, negitoro always has helpful tips and stuff for me.
Please tip it away. It's supposed to look like a cartoon melded with realistic elements. I hope I can pull it off, but I think I can.
