Garfield: the Movie trailer out now...
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/garfield/index.html
It is now my mission in life to kill Peter Hewitt and nuke 20th Century Fox film studio to ensure this abortion of a film never sees release.![]()
Seriously, I f-ing LOVED reading Garfield comics growing up. More than Calvin & Hobbes, more than Peanuts, more than Batman or TMNT. I think I bought the first 18 or so volumes of the Garfield comic archives all the way up through High School. The Garfield Christmas Special was one of my favorite holiday specials of all-time. It's my most favorite comic strip EVER!
And from the looks of the trailer, Hollywood is going to bastardize this thing worse than Cat in the Hat and the last two Batman flicks combined...![]()
omg TNL epics!

I was hoped Garfield would at least sound like the Garfield from the old cartoon. I'll pass on this one thanks.
... but... but...
There is so many things wrong with that I really can't find the words. Then again, what can you expect?

I have always been a big FoxTrot man myself. Hell that hasn't even been animated. So no bastardization there!

Jennifer L Hewit looks hot though
Jim Davis was established as a sellout long ago -- he should have stopped the comic at a certain point, like Berkely Breathed and Bill Waterson did with their strips. Unfortunately, he saw the money and it's still going. I've heard he doesn't even do it anymore, he has a few people that assemble the strip from various drawings and write crappy dialog for each strip.
They could have at least used a CG Odie. I know it's hard to get a dog that looks like that, but they already went to the expense to CG up Garfield, so what's the big deal? I hope this movie tanks.
BTW, Lorenzo Music, the voice for Garfield in all cartoon incarnations, died in August, 2001. Lorenzo was Garfield, as far as I'm concerned.
Jim Davis hasn't done Garfield for years. He stopped when I was in highschool. It's been other people ever since. In a way I'm surprised a Garfield movie took this long.Originally Posted by Lhadatt

Now, if they ever come out with a Calvin and Hobbes movie, then that is reason to get out the guns.
