Well, I'm a tad disappointed, but not totally crushed.

It's Coach McGuirk from Home Movies! What's he doing in a Contra game?

The ever-awesome 1UP posted their preview of the game, along with an interview with the developers. I get the impression that they seem to want to develop another more traditional Contra title after Neo Contra. I still have faith they won't mess up Neo Contra (it seems like they know what they're doing).

No, that still doesn't work at all.

    Well, that seems to work.

*Starts developing another 3D overhead Contra anyway...*
This was exactly what I was thinking. The two 3d Contra's are so bad that they are even left out of the official timeline, yet Konami wants to try a 3rd time??

I think leaving out the Appaloosa games from canon has more to do with the fact that they were never released in Japan than any actual retconning. Then again, there's a reason why they never went to Japan in the first place.

Once again, I have faith that Nakazato knows what he's doing.

Kuato was awesome. Total Recall is the shit.

  8. I said it before, and I'll say it again! You can't make a 3D game as intense as you can a 2D one. In two demensions you can see at all times what is flying at you and from which direction. It simply can't be reproduced in a 3D world. Twitch action games like Contra should be left in the 2nd demension. I know it won't be a 2D game ever again and that is why this series will never be as good as it once was. Can they make a great 3D Contra game someday? I'm willing to bet they can. Can they make a 3D one as good as Contra 3 or Hard Corps? No fucking way!

Didn't you read the interview? Neo Contra is mostly an experiment. They seem intend on making another one like Shattered Soldier later.

  10. Besides, if this game whips the crap out of ONE (awsome game), there's no reason in the world why it can't stand a chance to be better then it's 2D ancestors.

Quit blowing smoke Nigel, you biased foo you.
