Oops. Can't help you there. I'm primarily a vocalist.

I'm sure you don't need me telling you what to do, but I guess the only real way to get most of them under your belt is just repetition. For my senior recital I had around 12 songs to memorize th text to. That doesn't sound like much, except when you add in the fact that I sand in English, Italian, German and French, and had to get the feel for what exactly I was saying. I had recordings of almost all the pieces, and would listen to them whenever I had a free moment. I had them engrained in my head, and can still probably sing some of those songs, these 22 months later.

I'd love to memorize most of those standards' lyrics, though (I can sing along with Diana on her CDs, but I doubt I can sing them without the CD playing). So many great tunes in that list.

  3. Heh, I imagine it all being sung by brak.

Brak would be an awesome Jazz singer. Of Louie Armstrong proportions.

  5. I find it hard to beleive that a math major finds music theory boring, just my preference I suppose.
What if I told you that at this point in my college education I am completely, totally, burnt out on math and I can barely take it anymore? Because it's true.

In any case, that same night I was looking at some tabs and I spent some time figuring out what key they were in. That was cool. But that's the part of math I've always liked more, anyway, the more real practical uses of it. When I get comfortable enough to start writing my own songs, I fully intend to have a blast messing around with that sort of thing.

If you don't rock, you can be the best guitar player in the world, but no one will care.
Im learning to rock. Been working on my power chords and my friend is sending me some Nirvana books he hasnt used since he was like 16. Ill put them to work.

  6. what you should be practicing is thrashing about like a looney while playing, ala At the drive-in (These fucking attatchments won't work)

  7. What you should be doing, then, is emailing them to me. Use the email address that I have for my MSN Messenger... fletcher_joshua at hotmail dot com.

  8. holy shit, its as if god himself doesn't want you to see it. I can't send emails for some reason.

    try this: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/gggggggggg/goingoff.WMV

if that doesn't work, next time you're online when I am, I'll send it through MSN.

  9. I just switched to thicker strings. it's beating the fuck out of my fingers at this point, but hopefully they'll tougen up in the next week or so, that's what I get for jumping too far in size I guess.

I use the thickest strings that money can buy... and I still play so hard that I break at least one every 4 songs or so.

    Rocking can get expensive.
