Thread: starting to play guitar seriously

  1. 2. Pink Floyd - Dogs

Not really for a new guitarist, the solo's are easy enough, but the chords are complicated.

  2. I refuse to play Pink Floyd.

  3. Yeah, I forgot to hit reply, someone posted that as one of the three songs they wanted to learn. The good thing about Pink Floyd is that once you learn two or three riff's, you know their whole catalogue. Concept album = cheap way to get away with re-using the same riffs over and over again

Good to hear you're doing good with guitar though, so may people give up after a month or two.

    Definitely always with Pink Floyd.

    From Something Awful:

I’m sure a lot of people have deduced by this point that a lot of what I say in these articles is nothing more than good-natured ribbing, and that I can’t really detest all of these bands as much as I claim to. Well, let me get one thing straight. I really, truly, and deeply in my soul loathe Pink Floyd. Their mind-bogglingly pretentious musical wankery makes Radiohead look like Smash Mouth. They engaged in, or in many cases were responsible for, just about every reprehensible, over-serious prog-rock abomination that you could possibly think of; they’ve got the double-gatefold concept albums, they’ve got the expensively animated album-film, they’ve got the children singing the lyrics, and they’ve got the notoriously high-concept concerts where workmen build a wall in front of the band as they play and shit like that. Rick Wakeman’s “Camelot on Ice” disaster, frankly, seems rather cute when compared to the kind of crap that Pink Floyd likes to pull. The music behind all these nauseating concepts is densely layered pop music for below-average high-school misfits who mistake spooky sound effects for creativity. Many teenagers go through a Pink Floyd phase in high school; if you were or are one of them, I’d seriously advise you to cut your losses and give away all your Pink Floyd records now, lest you become one of the creepy stoned burnouts who spend their lives wearing faded Floyd t-shirts like reeking albatrosses, forever unable to find gainful employment anywhere but a head shop.

  6. Oh, I'm no pink floyd fan, just saying that some of my favorites can be concidered concept albums.

though you should look into easystar allstars dub side of the moon. Its a dub cover of dark side of the moon, and it shits all over the original IMO.

  7. Im gonna resurrect this thread yet again. Since my life sucks right now all I have to get by is my guitar. Ive been playing it 2-4 hours a day whenever I get the chance. A few months ago I reached the point where people can recognize a song when I play it, so I guess thats good, right? I may get an electric boyboy for Christmas, too, thatd be even better. Holla!

Also I can listen to a song and try to figure it out - with mixed results, but still not something that was possible last I posted in this thread. I may get an electric boyboy for Christmas, too, thatd be even better. Holla!

  8. It's a 2 for 1 deal! ^_^

  9. Yea.

Word on the street, I suck at the internet.

heh, if it makes you feel any better, I tried playing on an acoustic guitar Thursday, and failed miserably.
