=/ I liked the PP album that had welcome to the machine on it.
If it makes you feel any better, my job is playing guitar.

in a matter of weeks (3 to be exact) I'll be getting one of my dream basses:
like this, but fretted.
out of sheer luck, my favorite instrument shop got one in. I got to play it, and damn, I can't describe how nice they are. Pictures don't get across how breathtaking the finish is, and the sound...oh my god, the sound...
Its only downside is that its fucking heavy. I think my shoulders will need to build up a resistance to it for the long practice sessions (or I need to grow a dick, one or the other).
its gonna cost me $2750 AUD, which is about $400 off retail, and I get free unlimited servicing of it for a year, which I'm gonna take advantage of.
Depending on the loan I get, I might pick up a Electro-Harmonix Big-Muff pi distortion with it, which while made for guitar, is the most bass friendly distortion I've heard.
So thats like, $12 US?Originally Posted by arjue

Fucking awesome. I've always wanted one of those.Originally Posted by arjue

what do they sound like? I've been wanting to take up bass... but I don't know what to get. I like Jazz Basses, but I like them way better with active electronics and I don't know if I'm willing to drop that cash for my first bass.
Drop that kind of cash if you're gonna stick with it, because you will drop that kind of cash eventually.
He speaks the truth.
I have a bad track record on sticking with instruments. I'm lucky I've stuck with guitar so long.
I wish I followed Josh's advice when I first started. 4 and a half years of playing mediocre instruments...![]()
They have this really dark, ballsy low end and mid, and when you have it set up to be all lo-fi and trebbly the attack on it is unbelievable. No matter what, they cut through the mix really well. It'll kick your arse along with your bands.Originally Posted by Shakey
Jazz Basses are very nice, I got to play one once, and they're probably the most comfortable bass I've used (unlike the p-bass i played, ugh...). If you're a bit weary of dropping that kinda doe because you don't know if you're gonna stick with it or whatever, I suggest you check out the mexican range of fenders. Some of them are suprisingly really nice, especially for the price range.
Not quite, its roughly $2000 I think, a bit more maybe.Originally Posted by diffusionx
