Thread: D-I US College Hockey

  1. Hey, RPI swept SCSU.

    That was embarassing.

Well, it's a friendly hate. I mean, I actually like the Gophers a lot. I usually hope they win, unless it's against us or if it'll put us behind.

The only teams I despise are ... well, the rest of the WCHA. Col. College, Wisconsin, Denver, and especially the dirty Sioux. Mich. Tech is just sorta there.

The Huskies and the Sioux can go to hell! Gophers are going for the thrid in a row this year, last year may have been a suprise, just you wait this year will be even bigger! MUWAHAHA!
I'd like to see that, but just wait until we come over and win at your house later this year.
bastard of the new world order.

  2. This is a joke

Vermont, a team of suck, has just been accepted to Hockey East. Both Hockey East and WCHA, while containing a few weak spots, are conferences of power and prestige in hockey. I mean, look at the the top two teams in Hockey East: Maine and Boston College. #'s 2 & 3 on the current PairWise rankings.

While irksome, I guess it really isn't a huge deal. Just feel sorta bad for Vermont; they've gotten themselves into a world of hurt.

And this is a bit obnoxious, too. The NCAA, or factions within, want to stop D-III schools from handing out D-I scholarships to their D-I team players.
bastard of the new world order.

  3. UConn football is now in the Big East where they played the likes of Miami, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers (okay, they suck). Anyway, despite the fact that the Big East got raped by the ACC, the whole reason UConn football, an inexperienced program, put itself in that conference was because it wants to be a powerhouse. It's a long term thing, you know.

Maybe Vermont wants to do that too? Hmm...

  4. I used to go to OSU hockey games all the time up untill they built the new arena. You could get in, have some pizza and an entire row to yourself for just about $10 and no one botherd you. Perfect for a bunch of teenage stoners with nothing else to do. I like hockey but I'm not an avid fan, I couldn't tell you how many games OSU won when I was watching because I only paid attention half the time and just fucked around the rest of it.

    Fun times.

  5. Kind of unrelated but the U.S. just beat Canada in the finals of the world juniors.

A silver metal in Canada is basically like last place here. There was a bit on the news on how people were skipping out on work. One guy was asked if his boss knew he was playing hooky and he said "yeah, he's right over there." and pointed across the bar, and how big of a deal was a big deal for a lot of Canadians. Then they flip over to a sports bar in America and nobody has any clue what's going on.

They had only one bar playing it and it was a live feed from a Canadian channel. Just shows how different the cultures are.

Unfortunate, too. Hockey is awesome. American football is awesome. Baseball is okay. But basketball sucks. I guess, because hockey is a northerner thing, it really can't take off. It's just unfair that basketball is so popular.

  7. Im a huge sports fan.

I never got into hockey. Ive had my infatuations with all the other ones, but never hockey.

My conclusion is that hockey just sucks.

You should move to one of the states that pretends to be like Canada. You know... like Martha Stewart country. P.S. It was a good game up until something happened when Canada just gave up (I guess a 3 - 1 lead will do that to you). The last goal was a deflection off a Canadian players shoulder and in to the net of the unsuspecting goalie. That's not really a valid excuse when you blow a 2 goal lead in the first place though.

it seems to be the most manly of the sports with all the action happening. I just thought I'd point that out. I'm not trying to say you're unmanly and have the hips and bone structure of a ballerina or anything like that.

I personally can't seem to get in to basketball. I know they score baskets in a different fashion and there's some sort of play making going on there, but it just seems so boring and slow moving until someone goes up for a dunk or something.

Basketball is so popular because even the poorest sob can play it. All you need is a ball and you can find a court almost anywhere. It's really fun to play but I don't really dig watching anything but streetball.
