Well, depends on what they're talking about. Pro? The only reason basketball may seem popular is because the Wolves are doing well; sorta like the Twins. If the Twinkies suck, nobody watches them. If the Queens (Vikes) do poorly, they can't give away enough tickets to have the game broadcast.
As it is, the Wild haven't had an available seat since they became a team. Not one seat since they started. And they weren't very good the first year or so, and this year aren't very hot. They're also #1 in Jersey sales; so, when you think about it, hockey is really #1 in Minnesota. It's the only sport that can keep people coming, no matter what the record may be.
On Sat uofM vs CC game they talked to Vanek(it could have been someone else) and he said that the Wcha is faster and more competitive than the world juniors..kinda weird to hear that..course his team didn't make it too far.
That last game was awesome. A shutout for Briggs and a hopeful sign for the second half.
The WCHA is, however, probably the most competative division. I mean, there are only four points seperating the top four teams (21 Wisconsin, 20 Dirty UND, 19 SCSU, 18 UMD). And both Minnesota and Denver are threatening with 13 (however, Denver was neutered by UMD last weekend). CC no longer seems imposing with 10; I hope that SCSU sweeps them when we host. Gonna be a fun series.
I'll be attending the SCSU @ Wisconsin series; well, at least Friday night's game. That should be pretty exciting.
bastard of the new world order.
