    After you blow your nose...

I have a sore throat right now, and it really sucks. Just started last night, so nothing but clear mucus at this time.

I keep checking every time I sneeze, with the hope that a chunk of what's in there will come out.

What causes a sore throat, anyway? I know it stops hurting after I dislodge the green, bloody mucus stuck in there, but why is it there in the first place?

    Being sick at work sucks.

  2. After you blow your nose, do you look at it?
Hell yes. What am I going to do? Just throw it away without giving some acknowledgement to my mucus expulsion accomplishment?

  3. ...... no

I ususally check mucus colors when I cough it up and have to spit it out (gross but it doesn't really matter when you're sick).

Your body creates the mucus to capture particles in your nose or throat that are making you sick.

And of course I look at the snot! Marveling at giant loads of mucus dislodged from my body is one of my passions.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  5. I'm gonna come over and throw up on you right now, Mzo.

Be sure to make a post with detailed pics and analysis, systematically discecting my vomit, though.

I really hope I sneeze out the good stuff at home, because I would SO take a picture of it.

  7. Usually your throat hurts because the mucas from your nose is draining into your throat ("post-nasil drip" is the worst). That's why you keep coughing and shit keeps coming out. If it's clear than your not too sick, when it changes color it means your body is fighting an infection (and if you feel your glands to the side of your throat, they're puffy cause their cranking out antibodies). I was sick for the week through Christmas and it sucked. It made me lose my voice.

  8. Oh man, talk about timely.

Woke up Christmas day with a sore throat. Things progressed to cough and cold in due time, and by new years I was feeling almost better. But my cough has not yet gone away. Two days ago I was eating some steak, and I coughed cuz the steak was dry. Anyway, the steak went UP MY NOSE! I was blowing my nose for close to an hour, looking at the tissue, wondering why my nose felt so weird (i hadnt clued in yet that the steak was in my nose) trying to dislodge what wound up being three chunks of steak that were all slightly bigger than my nostril. I was just happy it was over.

  9. Yup, I've got some of that sick, too. Right now, sore throat, stuffy nose. Whee.

...and of course I look at it after I've blown my nose! I have to make sure the shit came out so I don't have to do it again!
Does anyone else's olfactory cleansing sound like a trumpet, though? Mine sure as hell does.

  10. I always look to make sure no brains came out.

You never know, unless you check.
