Yeah, I knew this was coming so I held off on the release that just came out. I really want the DVD badly though so it'll be a bit hard to wait for.
IGN put of an article about the Director's cut, due October 19th:

Love that cover. It will be mine![]()
If it helps any, the current DVD has extras that the Director's Cut won't have, plus it comes with a $5 off coupon for the Director's Cut. It's like the difference between the Ultimate and Extreme editions of the Terminator 2 DVD- they seem to be more companions to each other than just a double dip.Originally Posted by Will
I hope the extra 20 minutes in the DC doesn't slow down the movie further...it kinda drags a bit in the middle.

you have info from elsewhere then? i also read on this thread that there is an additional commentary track instead of a "replacement" one. I wonder what the real verdict is.
Yeah, I read it elsewhere. Hmm...curious. Guess we'll just have to wait until the DC is released to find out the real deal.

The current release has half of the scenes to be added back as deleted scenes... and the movie is better off without them. Plus I wouldn't want to lose either commentary track, which would be hard to keep unless they feel like editing them as well with silence over the added scenes. I don't think they would drag the cast back in for another 20 minutes.
I also got it for $16. Director's cut doesn't interest me at all.

Are they really that bad or not important?Originally Posted by Ammadeau

If the new scenes added are anything but action scenes (which I doubt they are), I'm not really interested. The movie has enough slow parts as it is, but it's tolerable because everything else is so good. If the pace is slowed even further it'll ruin it.

No action. The first one was the taxi ride with Liz and John. The second one was with Rasputin and some Russian military guy, showing off the stone that Hellboy needs to plug into. There was a third, but I forget what it was. Also the commentary mentions a few bits that likely to get back in, but none of them were action oriented. I feel the same as you do. The pace was slow enough. The non-Hellboy moments feel like it's on life support or something.Originally Posted by Dolemite
