Well, Some of these scenes supposed to flesh out more of the supporting characters, especially Rasputin, and give audience a bit more information on him.
I will still wait for the sp ed set, and while I agree that some of the scenes were on the slower side, it didnt bothered me a bit

Did anyone even give a shit about Rasputin? It's all about Kroenen...now that's a character I'd like to see fleshed out.
I totally agree. Hellboy himself was entertaining enough that he could get away with slow scenes. When he wasn't there...ugh. Neither John or Liz were interesting enough to carry scenes alone.

Rasputins only good and important scene was the one where he killed the old guy with Kroenen. It showed cunning, deceit and skill. Other than that he seemed... just bland. It would've been alright if they had focused more on Hellboys relationships but the whole plot was over the top and didn't seem like it fit in with the whole Hellboy persona.
He wanted to fit in to society, and he couldn't, and that's where the interesting tale lay and when they explored it this movie was great, when they didn't it was terrible and that's why this movie is simply okay when it could've been absolutely great.

My wife got me this for our anniversary, along with Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. The cover on this thing is great. I'd post impressions of the extras, but I won't have time to watch it any time soon, and Halo 2 is less than 20 days away...

Saw the DVD at Best Buy earlier…I love how there's this big sticker on the front that says something like "an additional 13 minutes of UNCUT, INTENSE ACTION!" when the added scenes are just talking and character development.
I liked the movie and own the original DVD, but I don't see myself buying this version. It was too long as it was.
