I disagree. You are a very small one.

Maybe you would've liked it if they went back in time and had a slumber party with Chrono and Lucca and Robo, but for some reason, I doubt it.

    That would've ruled.

I played CC during a time when RPGs were just boring the life out of me. So I didn't think it was too great (except for the music -- CC is one of the few videgame soundtracks I've bought).

Looking back though, I remember there was an awful lot of goodness to it: colorful graphics, interesting story, non-tedious battles (for the most part), lots of secrets, and as I mentioned, mitsuda's midas touch. Now that I've discovered my second wind for tolerating RPGs, I have a feeling that if I went back and played it again now I'd love it a lot.

    And Planescape:Torment is godly.

Most likely it is since the Japanese Trademark still exists. Perhaps other sources just wanted to make it seem like Chrono Break or Brake has been dropped for whatever reason.

I wanna give it another try one of these days though.
Same here on both counts. While I thought it had a damn good battle system, allocating elements was as boring and tedious as the junction system in FFVIII. As mentioned before, the crazy-ass amount of charcters was too much to keep track of, as well. Like a wise sage once told me, "Once a game becomes more like work and less like fun, it's just not worth it." I didn't mind the story as much (though, I still haven't beaten it, so I can't give a definitely judgment.)

  5. I think that where alot of peoples dissapointment in CC comes from is the fact that it is not much like CT. Chronotrigger was the game that got me into to RPGs and Cross just really didnt feel like Trigger at all to me. Thats not to say that CC is bad or less of a game in anyway I loved it.

  6. The only problem I had with Chrono Cross was the fact they went totally fuckin overboard with party characters. It's the MvC2 of RPG games for christ sake. Aside from obtaining him, I don't think I ever used that grecco-roman wrestler guy.

This is the bottom line right here.

Sorry if I sound dismissive or arrogant. But CC's place as one of the best RPGs to ever come out of Japan is so assured that it is on the level of objective fact, and it's not worth my time telling the haters why they are wrong.

And the storyline in CC is fucking brilliant.

Or the fact that some haven't finished the game yet. I'd say the last quarter of the game has a lot to do with the deciding factor of whether or not the game is worthwhile.

Jilbert was the greatest. He was a good heavy-hitter and perfect for a "strength-based" character for the team, I guess.

  9. Glenn with both swords. No one else matters. ^_^

  10. I just couldn't get past the first hour of Cross. I tried three times, but every time it bored the shit out of me. I had thought about trying again recently, but having discovered Bioware since my last attempt, I'm not sure any amount of money could convince me to play through another Square RPG.
