Thread: Jam Films

  1. Uh-oh Jam Films

I got this DVD the other day, and I must say it is pretty good. There is a good mix of styles here and the prodction value is great. The first short is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus guy) and I am sure you guys will recognize the other directors. The subs were excellent on it too. Anybody else have any thoughts?

  2. I liked it too. The only short I really didn't think was very good was Kitamura's, but I didn't like the other full-length movies by him I've seen either. I liked Shunji Iwai's Arita the best I think, but I liked Pandra-Hong Kong Leg a lot too. Cold Sleep, Kendama, and Justice were all pretty crazy and fun on the surface, but had interesting things to say too. And Hijiki was enjoyable too, and I thought the little disclaimer thing for it being serious at the beginning was kind of strange. Just Japanese politeness, maybe?

And obviously the shorts, even The Messenger, were all expertly made and looked great. It's been awhile since I watched it so I can't think of much else to say, but it is a nice collection. Does anyone know if the lineup for Jam 2 has been announced yet?

  3. My favorite was ARITA too. The story was very whimsical and the music was pretty. The Messenger was OK, not the best on the disk by any means. I hope there is a Jam 2 on the way!
